Transfers Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

But they could just announce Reguilon and leave everyone to assume the Bale medical and deal is more complicated - and announcing Reguilon would fill the media/fan void a little as well, give them something else to talk about and give Reguilon some actual attention rather than announcing both and Reguilon getting lost in the Bale circus.
You're being too rational, BC.
The banality and stupidity of social media would be in crazed overdrive for days if we announce Reguilon and not Bale.
Barnett will want his client's reputation protecting at all costs, particularly after today's major hit piece on Bale's in-laws in today's Super Soaraway Shite.
Also, it's in neither RM or Spurs' interests for Bale to have a failed medical, as it damages the value of "an asset" in crude, heartless, business terms.
Finally, if there is linkage between the Reguilon and Bale deals, in terms of fees, clauses, etc, then any Levy renegotiation of the Bale terms may also affect whether the Reguilon transfer terms stand.

He has played 3.709 minutes in 2 seasons with Mainz, which is the equivalent to 41 games and he has scored 20 goals and managed 4 assists.

Genuinely, is that considered poor nowadays?
According to Wikipedia he scored 20 in 55 games (including the 3 from yesterday), but score only 3 in 18 last season. Doesn't seems like a reliable goalscorer to me.

IMO announcing one player rather than both would raise more questions about why the other hadnt been announced - atm speculation includes whether its some complex publicity/video delaying a joint announcement which may be true but doesnt affect the value of the deal, announcing Reguilon by himself raises questions about Bale.

Relax, they were never going to play against Southampton, so a little delay is no problem in the real world - although I'd like it asap !

I'm pretty relaxed, especially about the Bale PR stunt, I couldn't give a shit if it goes through or not, would much rather buy a decent DM or a quality younger attacking player who can play every week for the next few years and become a real asset.

Reguilon, even though I don't think is the spunkbread some do, I do want just because I think LB has been even weaker than RB lately and he will at least give us a proper option who can go in both directions. He should be an improvement on the absolute dross we've been watching at LB in Davies and Rose.

I think the most realistic reason why they have announced Reguilon is that if they announced him and no Bale they would create a tsunami of panic and rage among the fans. Of course everything is pure conjecture until we won;t see any announcement

I think quite a few of us would be more panicked by not getting a decent LB than an injured ageing superstar who has barely played 90 minutes in a year (I think ?)

What about the in-laws?

The one on the right looks like David gold...

For a club owner point of view football is a lot about money and managing the fans' expectation .
Although I agree that on the pitch Reggie can probably have a bigger impact than Bale (we need also to consider the impact of Bale's presence on the current players, which can bemassive) , the emotional/political/ commercial impact of Bale is immense and I am not surprised that they are not waiting for both deals to be done before the announcement

I think there would be more fans panicking about not getting Bale than Reggie, regardless of what their future impact will be. Also, it's very human that everybody is excited about Bale. For most fans (including me) yesterday and today is about emotions.
