Back on topic - it is rather sad our only serious links so far involve an average PEH and some clown for the Chinese League

Worrying times ahead

Doesn't seem like our ambition is to get back into the top 4 at least

Compare our reported targets to United's, Chelsea's & Woolwich's.... Sancho, Willian, Havertz, Werner & Coutinho vs... Höjbjerg, Zelik and... who?

A reluctance to spend and Mourinhos distrust of any player under 24 then its going to be hard working, ageing plodders. Will be such a waste, a shedload of young talented relegated and championsip players. Might not be billy big bollock signings but could revitilise our squad.

It's this mentality that kills us, top clubs who actually win stuff take a risk and spend big.
Indeed. Don’t get me wrong, I hope Hojbjerg is a success, I really do and I feel he’ll be a decent player for us.
But fans coming out with the usual, “we’re selling KWP for 12 mil so we’re essentially buying PEH for 3 mil, great work again from Mr. Levy!”, just doesn’t sit that well with me. It’s canny negotiation sure, but have we signed him because we were able to get him on the cheap or because he’s the best DM we could have gotten to really improve the team? My gut instinct is the former.

I really believe this is exactly what Pochettino was talking about when he said “we can’t keep trying to be clever in the market and expect to win things.”
