Spaniel, I’ll ask you again, what did you mean by “the money for the stadium would have made us serial winners”

And I'll throw it open to any of those that "agreed" with your post as presumably they understood what you meant?

We would have won trophies.

Players and winning stuff yes. That's what we want the champions league to provide as well.

So are you seriously suggesting that instead of borrowing 1bn to build the stadium, we borrowed 1bn and bought players ?

I just want to get this straight? Make sure I'm understanding what you are suggesting?

Spaniel Spaniel - is this what you were suggesting originally?

2 ,performing well involves pitch success because that pitch success will drive:
That why it fails . Top 4!is our limit and that looks further away than ever.
If success was a priority then the club would buy proven top players occasionally or not let the team gradually rot away or leave endless inadequate holes in the team.
To sustain trophy success then this will never happen , as expenditure will not merit the financial return for ENIC .

Have a team that's capable of winning trophies, do they have to cost 1 billion pounds total? No.
A great stadium doesn't mean a lot when you are middle of the table.

Eriksen more than likely going to win the Europa League in his first season away from Spurs.
Walker wins the league in his first season away from Spurs.
Carrick and Berbatov win the league in their first season away from Spurs.

We need to win at least the Europa this season otherwise a couple of our top players will be heading for the exit door.

He might win it, but he barely plays.

People may not agree, but the two signings we have made are exciting for me.

One of our biggest problems over the last few years is mentality. We get ourselves into positions of opportunity, but then we fall at that final hurdle. We lacked real leaders in a sense of voices.

The Ajax game is a prime example of this, losing 2-0 on the night, it took for Kane, who wasn't in the squad to go to the dressing room and motivate them. Not the manager, not the actual captain or the likes of Alderweireld, Wanyama, Vertonghen.. Experienced players. Yes we won that game, but again we fall at the next hurdle. Decision didn't go our way and we fell apart. Happens again and again.

We have now bought in 2 players who real captain experience, loud voice, experience and know how to win, where to focus and what to do in certain stages. They might not be the big names, but mentality wise, they are top players, bought in by a manager with the winning mentality we have lacked.

Look beyond the names of £90m players, or the player who scored 20 a season.. We have those players already in Kane, Son, Lo Celso.. What we lacked was leaders. We are building that now, and I'm more excited for next season than ever.

It begs the question, if we would want a 'real leader' at RB, who should we realistically target?

I don't know about 'exciting'. Solid and necessary signings though, for sure.
