Transfers Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It is wild to me that there are people who take people like Trix seriously. I’m assuming most are kids/early adults who are digesting all the Spurs news they can, but he tweets out stuff like this:

Like he supposedly knows that an agreement is nearly there and says it’ll be a range of 18m-20m. But if you’re this plugged in to know the state of negotiations, then how are you providing such bad details:mourbringit:

I have basically no interest in Rakitic at this point, Barca have been desperate to get rid of him for over a year and I’m not even sure how Rakitic fills a need. It’s not like he’s a defensive MF or even this exceptionally creative one. He isn’t very mobile either, so how does he fit in a Mourinho team.

Frenkie de Jong is the future there, and they don't want Rakitic in his way.

We play nine million games next year in a compressed schedule, and with 5 subs. Rakitic can play all over the place in a 4-2-3-1 or especially if and when we're in a 4-3-3 and he has been a top player for many years offering both mobility and creativity in spades. I can believe how dubious people are of him.

I have no idea what a (realistic) good price would even be for Rakitic

(Wouldn't mind him at all to be clear)

It's a question of transfer fee, wages, and length of contract. If we could get him on a two-year deal that doesn't pay him more than our existing top earners for like 10-15M, that would be a brilliant piece of business, IMO.

The bad signs are in the next quote: we are selling Aurier, but it doesn´t look like we are signing two RB´s. So, basically, we will be in the exact same position we were last season in terms of depth.

Of course, Jose will try to make the most of the group at his disposal, but I don´t think he wrote to the club something like "we don´t need depth in the FB position because we already have Gedson". Again, there are many signs to back what I´m saying - even though it´s just speculation. Aurier, the player we are now happy to sell, played 42 games last season - the second most in the squad -, including all the final matches after his brother´s death. Gedson and others were training to play in the RB position, as Jose said - yet, they didn´t play a single game. Next season´s schedule will be even worse. It´s not reasonable to expect any player to play 90% of the games.

Now, the CB position is a different situation. I´m not saying we need depth - I know we have 5 CB options. It would be nice to have more quality, but I know we won´t have an ideal scenario. For example, if we were to sign a quality CB and play him alongside Toby or Sanchez, "The Dier Experiment" would be our 4rd choice for the position. And by the way, I totally agree: if he plays in the first team, it´s Jose´s call. Personally, I think our best partnership is Toby-Sanchez - at least until we sign a better defender.
Can you see us signing a better defender though?

Idk how much they will cost and where do we got the money from. But id we are able to sign Ndidi and Doherty, it would be awesome. I would be quite optimistic to start the season. Doherty is perfect in the system Mou is implementing.
And no matter how we play 2 pivot or 3 midfield Ndidi can be the first name there. Just cause of his all round attributes plus potential ceiling.

My skepticism comes from not seeing Levy pay what it would cost to get him and having him on the bench. I also don't see how he would fit into our starting 11 either.

In a Levy free world sure spend the money to get him and have him as an option coming off the bench, He is a much better option than Sissoko, Winks or Gedson.

Why would Wolves sell Doherty though? And why would he want to leave?

I can't see Leicester selling Ndidi either especially after getting a big fee for Chilwell.

As I said, it´s not about depth in this case, it´s about quality.

Before the window, it looked like we could replace Foyth with another young player - Kim MIn-jae, for example. We could still do something like that.

I definitely don´t see us paying for "a better" central defender - the only possibility would be Ndombele going the other way.
