Feel free to pack 11 'talented' midfielders on the pitch for your title winning campaign.

Even video games dont approve of such silly ideas

11?

I’m talking about 4.

Sabitzer is the hot name around here but adding Barella is crazy, LOL.

You are right though we have done great just having PEH, Ndombele and GLC as our 3 top MFers. There hasn’t been an issue at all going with those 3 with Sissoko and Winks as the top reserves.

Our MF has been amazing, no need at all to bring in an elite talent let’s just stick with the same set up we have now.

I do love the idea that there is a 24 year MF that starts for Italy and is one of the top players for the best team Italy but somehow we don’t need that guy.

Our talent is so amazing we will just take a pass on adding him.

Our world class super elite manager must have us rolling with the kind of talent we obviously have.

Elite talent without considering the type of player he is.

We need to add another midfielder but Barella is not the type of midfielder we need or do you think all midfield players are of only one type?

We need someone who can control the tempo of the game, with great vision and passing range, and also decent defensively. Would also be nice if he can add some aerial presence in the middle of the park.

we should be looking at players like Milinkovic-Savic or even kalvin philips, but not barella or should we be joining the isco sweep stakes as well?

We def need competition for our AMs and Barella would be an excellent fit. How you are equating a 24 yr old hungry professional versus a washed up 28 yr old spanish beard is misguided.

But yes, we also need other assets in the midfield

This is the approach I prefer personally. Sell the players who are not good enough and use youth/cheaper options to replace that have the potential to grow.

Realistically Spurs can afford this type of window without Europe (numbers are from transfermarket then I took 5-8m off since I underrate our players)-

Sell (profit 99 million)
Sanchez - 20m
Dier - 15m
Sissoko - 12m
Winks - 15m
Davies - 12m
Aurier - 12m
Gazzaniga - 3m
CCV - free
Foyth - 10m

Buy - 2 CB's, RB, LB (if Reguilon leaves to Madrid), ST

GK -Lloris(34)/Whiteman(22)/Austin(22)
RB - Tanganga(22)/Doherty(29)
CB - Rodon(23)/Toby(32)/new CB/new CB (add a 3rd CB if big offer comes for Toby)
LB - Reguilon(24)/Sessegnon(21)/Cirkin(18)
DM - Hojbjerg(25)/Skipp(20)
CM - Ndombele(24)/Lo Celso(25)/Dele(25)/White/Devine(16)/Bowden(19)
RM - Bergwijn(23)/Lamela(29)/Lucas(28)
LM - Son(28)/Clarke(20)
ST - Kane(27)/Parrott(19)

Ideally, we add a younger, more attack-minded manager but that's a different discussion.
Genuinely feel we’ll be relegated with that team you’ve drummed up. No way will I ever back any lineup that has Doc in it. No sir, count me out. He’s absolute cack.

Barella can do all those things you list except for being an aerial presence.

No I don’t think all midfielders are the same which is why I am not saying we need any random MFer but instead someone with the skills that Barella brings.

We simply dont need Barella. We can want but we dont need.

We already have Ndombele and GLC competing for the AM/advanced CM role. Adding Barella is just going to overload the position. Are we going to keep 2 of the 3 on the bench. To play 2 of 3 will require a 4-man midfield like a diamond or box. Beyond that, we will simply be putting square pegs in round holes.

In any of 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1 or 3-5-2, we should be starting only one of Ndombele or GLC in a balanced central midfield.

Idk, if we were after Barella I would not be mad.

We do have Skipp coming through and think he is ready to push for minutes next year. We struggle going forward imo and need some energy in final third.

No he cannot - Barella cannot control the tempo of a game, lacks the required vision and his passing range is limited. He does not play that role at Inter and did not at Cagliari or are you going to magically grant him the needed skills and experience?

I don't have to magically grant him skills he already has.

what we need is a playmaker that will play next to PEH and push Ndombele or GLC closer to the final third.

Recent games with Ndombele forced to play deep has taken out the best part of his game, so much so that some fans are even doubting his quality.

Skipp is not ready to start for us yet but should get minutes as a sub in the double pivot, which would allow us to rest PEH or the playmaker against weakeropposition without having to field winkssoko.

Seriously? Thats your evidence? The kid is a key player cos he is talented, that does not mean he has the skills we need to complement our midfield.

May be you should go and watch Tonali to get a better idea of what is being asked..

Yes that is my evidence, sorry I don’t have the time or computer skills to cut up a bunch of clips of him but watching his games makes it clear that he definitely fits our needs.

Ndombele, Barella and GLC easily could all play and even if not being able rotate those 3 between two starting spots would be great. It’s what good teams have good players in reserve.

We need talent in the midfield, we needed guys who can pass the ball, we need guys who can create chances. Barella does all that. He would be amazing to add and fill a big hole in our team.
Nagelsmann is gonna want a team of sprinters. Barella's not the most athletic, is he?

My other question is this-surely we can upgrade our creative midfield options without having to fork out huge money? We forked out big for Lo Celso and Ndombele, and we haven't yet had a proper return on our investment. I'd be worried about doing it again.

Yes the money doesn’t make sense for us, plus I doubt Inter is likely to sell him either
