And the people saying he isn't tenacious enough? The dude is a battler from what I have seen. Never backs down from a challenge. Makes Eriksen look even more of a wimp when a guy smaller than him puts in challenges.
Who are you talking about Barella or Odegaard?

Barella-yes, odegaard -no. but its odegaard that is more like eriksen.

Think you have gotten the discussions about two different players mixed up

I went through the Milan derby very quickly to have a look at Barella. And I see what you are saying about him.

Throw out a few names of midfielders that interest you.
Think we should be looking at a playmaker or DLP that can play alongside PEH as our starter, so that new player, PEH and Skipp will be our core rotation for the double pivot.

Two players I would consider are
- Kalvin Philips, think he has been well tutored under Bielsa,
- Milinkovic-Savic, not sure how well he would adapt to the faster paced PL

I think that we should have a look a Maximilian Arnold at Wolfsburg. He ticks a lot of the boxes that I think most Tottenham fans want in a deep lying playmaker. Turns 27 in May so still in or close to the physical prime of his career. The main hinder is that he has a contract until 2026, so he would not be cheap.

I am a bit surprised that we are not scouting more in the Bundesliga overall. Out of the other major leagues it is the one with the physical pace closest to the Premier League.

I could be totally wrong about this guy, but I think he needs space to play. So in a team like ours, I am not sure his team mates would be coached to do that for him. On top of that, he benefits from having lots of passing options at Leeds. There wouldn't be any of that sorcery here. Or maybe my wife has been spiking my turpentine again.

I also don't think he excels at anything Skipp doesn't.

And he's 5 years older.

Think we need to be buying younger players, ideally under 25.

At 27, he would have barely settled in before starting to decline

Currently. Off the back of playing Championship football and half a season of Premier League football. He's 25.

Why put another obstacle infront of Skipp when at 25, he'll probably be better than Phillips ever was.
Cos we need someone who can start next season and Skipp is not it. We can't hold back the rest of the squad waiting for Skipp to develop.

Don't see the obstacle. When Skipp is the better player, he can get the starter role and whoever it is becomes the backup. The position they play gets carded heavily, and adding injuries and deep progression in cups, there will be enough minutes to go around.

My point being that I don't think the gap between Phillips and Skipp is all that big to what they can bring to the team.

I don't think we even need someone for that position. We just require a change to 433.

And I like Phillips - I think he's probably the best number 6 England has to offer - I'd just rather develop our own and put the funds towards positions that are required.

I have a different view as he currently plays as a lone pivot and think he will benefit more from being in a double pivot where he has to cover less space.

The gap is big imo, particularly in reading of the game (offensively and defensively) and positioning. Philips has really benefited from playing under Bielsa

Our squad has been structured towards 4-2-3-1 as it was favored by both Poch and Mourinho. Changing to a 4-3-3 will create a different set of problems e.g. PEH is not well suited to being a lone DM and creativity of our WFs is limited (don't Kane become our #10)
