Manager above any signings this summer, in my view.

What good is a brand new £50,000,000 centre back if we're going to set up to constantly put pressure on our defence?

This is a manager who spent near enough £80,000,000 on signing Bailly and Lindelof for Man Utd and wanted to spend a further £40,000,000 on Eric Dier when he was there ffs.

And who then, once appointed Spurs manager, decided to give Alderweireld and Eric Dier new fucking contracts.

A good coach can coach players to defend. That's logic.

When Ranieri is guiding a Leicester City team to win the league with one of the best defences in the league consisting of Simpson, Morgan, Huth and Fuchs and Antonio Conte then follows that up by winning the league with one of the best defences that consisted of Moses, Luiz, Cahill and Alonso - don't tell me we need flashy new players.

Now someone probably comes in here and tells me the difference in those teams was Ngolo Kante - well then it's clear that a defensive midfield is probably a position we probably need to upgrade then.

But still won the Europa Vase.

Trophies are everything right?

It's crazy isn't it.

We were all laughing at Mourinho's Man Utd when he was there. Lol finished 6th in the league. Lol, look how the mighty Man Utd have fallen, celebrating League Cup and Europa League wins when they were lifting the Champions League and Premier League less than a decade before.

Absolutely scary similarities to him here really. Man Utd fans warned us. We didn't listen. We were told he had changed. He told us. We have a better squad than United did. We'll be alright.

I remember ALL of us laughing at Man Utds defence when he was there. Lauding how de Gea kept them in games for years. Only to then be told he had one of the best defensive records in the league whilst there.

Funny that isn't it? Up until a few weeks ago, we had the 2nd best defensive record in the league. Yet we could all fucking see with our own eyes that we couldn't defend for shit.

Wan Bissaka = 50M, Maguire=85M, Lindelhof=45M.

Money to burn.

Tough one for our boys at the moment, got to make money on the sales of Dele, Sanchez, Winks, Sissoko, Aurier, maybe one of either Lucas, Lamela or Bergwijn and we massively need Sessegnon, Clarke and Skipp to come back able to fill a few of those voids.

Big money on an actual defence this summer, the only ones I like long term are Regulion, Rodon and Tanganga for squad quality. Harsh on Davies but with Sessegnon and Cirkin hopefully able to develop maybe it’s time to dangle him under a team like West Ham’s nose

Heard there's a rumor that Haaland and Mbappe were interested in joining next season given where the team is headed. Can anyone confirm whether this is true?

Are they by any chance related to Erling and Kylian?

I’ve actually heard that Haaland’s cousin should be the spitting image. Got a similar name, Albert Braut Tjåland. Could be a late bloomer since he didn’t get his debut for Bryne until he was 16 while Erling got his at 15. At Molde now so similar path thus far

Tight-fisted penny-pinching Levy is not going to pay off Mourinho and still invest heavily into the squad.

If you are expecting a manager to come in and transform Sissoko into a Yaya, Winks into Xavi, or Sanchez into Desailly, I have a golden bridge to sell to you.

Without the needed turnover, the squad will only be worse next season and will handicap any new manager hired

I'm expecting a new manager to come in and sell Sissoko, Winks and Sanchez.

Not continue to play them like the one in charge has tended to do.

I struggle to accept that it’s Joses reluctance to sell them that’s the issue, I get a feeling it’s the chairman’s reluctance to sell them for less than he once could have got or saved that’s preventing the real freshen up we require in our second string and a few of our starting slots.

We have half a dozen players in, past or near their 5th seasons with us who really shouldn’t have lasted more than one or two. Do we blame both Poch and Jose or the one person that has been consistent at the club during both tenures would be my biggest question regarding said players.

I don't reckon Mourinho wanted to sell either Sissoko or Winks in the summer. Which is why both had quite prominent roles in our squad at the beginning of the season.

Sissoko more for his performances when we were winning games (and him being a popular figure) and Winks because of his "huge improvements" (we all watched the Amazon doc)

Personally, I think Mourinho would sell both in the summer regardless.

I really hope this is right. But who is going to buy Sissoko on that weekly outlay? He’s totally priced out of his actual level. And given that we bought Sanchez for 41m, I’ve read enough time that selling him for less requires Levy to write down the investment as a loss that he won’t do it (and obviously no one is buying him for anything close—we’d be lucky to get half that).

Add that to the fact that we built this giant cash register of a stadium just in time to shutter the doors, and buying out this failed manager and staff will require a king’s ransom, and it’s looking increasingly likely that we’ll be coming off a non-CL season by falling out of Europe entirely....

I expect our books are probably a total, unmitigated disaster, and we are in for the opposite of the kind of turnover we seem to need.

Did Jose believe Winks had genuinely improved a lot or was he just reaffirming what Levy had said at a bust table with so many in and around?

Sissoko has been a good foot soldier but we don’t need them now, we need game changers so for me it’s Sabitzer in, Sissoko out and go out on all we can for Nehaus.

Neuhaus, Sabitzer and Botman or Milenkovic would keep me very happy in the summer. We can get away with 3 signings but in reality we probably need 5 (another CB and RB on top of that lot). I’d also be looking to spend the rest of our league season integrating Tanganga at RB and Rodon in the centre so we are proactive in giving them minutes in much needed areas that slaughter us at the moment.

Smartest would be Sissoko out with Sabitzer coming in and Winks out with Skipp replacing him.

Automatically makes our midfield stronger. Whilst then potentially adding another central midfielder if we sell Dele.

And that's not even including Lo Celso.

But I worry about our business it we finish 8th or so, outside of the European places with no CL to offer and our obvious history with lack of gut breaking wages.

We absolutely must shift, sell and be ruthless this summer and we’d need a manager with pedigree to identify in times of financial struggle good quality which is why I’m still wanting Jose to have a window.

The longer we keep Sanchez, Winks, Sissoko, Aurier and one Doherty the more this continues and the more this continues, the harder it is to keep Sonny and Harry. Our young lad Scarlett could help with our backup striker search which is why I think Jose has been needing him in.

If I’m Jose I’m going full strength in every Europa game tie after this round, that and the out we have in a one off game vs City seems our best hopes for Europe, even with a favourable run in compared to our rivals. 9 points behind West Ham with many teams up there seems to big an ask for even 6th now....that’s a huge shame with how we were late November but I think this all started with the sit back on a goal lead mind set we had at Palace. I get that behaviour with 5 games left, not 25 it’s not right for the stage where you can still express and not deem it as clutch time.
