Buendia is far and away the best signing Villa has made since getting back to the Premier League. No clue why we weren't all over that.

I don't know if we will get a player in that is better than Ings right now, but we can certainly get a player that will be better than Ings in a year or two and who will be just entering their prime.

Just because there aren't reports doesn't mean that Villa and Soton haven't been talking. Villa have known they were selling Grealish since before the Euros when they bought Buendia. Soton knew they had to either sell Ings now or lose him for nothing.

And then? Even if he is committed we get 2 or 3 years then nothing. Kane was a once in a generation talent that will take a LOT of money to replace with anything close. If we keep him we end up with nothing. And with nothing we never get a replacement..
If we sell him now and find a 22-24 year old we could have 8-10 years more.
Kane at best is 3 years now.
