Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think for us to have a genuine title challenging first XI next season we need 3 signings:
- LCB
- RWB
- CM

I think we need a real top class CM to compliment Skipp, Bentancur and Hojbjerg if we want to go to that next level and of course LCB and RWB are priorities to address.

That's probably 150m right there if we go for top quality.

This doesn't address the depth issue and ultimately that's where we will be found out over the course of a season.

But if we can get those 3 signings right I think we have a first XI that can compete with any team in the league on a consistent basis.
Agree. We could also add a player of quality who can play Centrally. In attack, a Paulinnho or David.

Oh, yea....this must be one of the funniest transfer stories so far.
I personally would not want Pogba at Spurs anyway.

Jason Cundy has claimed on TalkSPORT that it won’t be a surprise for him to see Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte make an ambitious move to sign Paul Pogba from Manchester United this summer.

The 29-year-old Frenchman, who was re-signed by the Red Devils for an eye-watering £93 million in August 2016 (Guardian), has just a few months left on his contract.

It doesn’t look like he’ll extend his stay at Old Trafford, which opens the door for multiple other top clubs to sign him on a free transfer before the start of next season.

It really does seem unlikely that he’ll stay in the Premier League if he leaves Manchester United, but Cundy believes Tottenham could well be an option.

Discussing Pogba’s struggles at Manchester United, Cundy said: “I just wonder whether he’s been let down, if he’s been mismanaged, or mis-coached. I just wonder, under a better manager, could we have potentially seen a better Pogba? I think the managerial situation [has affected him].

“Under Klopp, he wouldn’t [hold the ball], look at what Klopp has done for [Jordan] Henderson. Henderson has turned out to be one of the most consistent, solid midfielders in the Premier League, and Klopp has got that out of him.”

Talking about where Pogba could go next, he said: “He can’t get into those top teams (Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea). I’ve not seen enough, but that doesn’t mean to say that he can’t improve some teams.

“There’s a couple of Premier League clubs that we believe are interested and it wouldn’t surprise me if [Antonio] Conte’s looking at that situation.”

Perish the thought..... :(

To reach title challenge level?!

Think we would need to qualify for the Champions League then sign;

LCB
CB
RWB x2
LWB
CM
R/L FW
ST

But they would all need to be high quality players.
Probably 250 - 300m worth.

For me, only Lloris, Romero, Son & Kane would hold their own in one of the title challenging sides - which is the level of quality we would require. (Possibly Bentancur)

Unfortunately that is never happening.

I think we will see three decent + a couple of squad players come in.

If we managed to sell Sanchez, Rodon, Tanganga, Doherty, Emerson, Winks, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Gil & Bergwijn - we might raise something like 150-200m.

In a video game that kind of stuff might be possible, but not in real life.
If we signed 8 or so players to replace them, the chances are 1-2 of them would be of that 'title challenge' level.

Build a squad to push 75+ points and we will be doing well. No point getting ahead of ourselves.

We won't have the depth to challenge Chavs, Dips & Shitty; but if we successfully make the 3 key upgrades to our starting XI that most agree on and combine it with 1st class management we're a match for anyone on the day.

In the same way that Conte always talks in term of challenging for the title, so did Poch.....

If pushing for the title amounts to sustained top 4 or higher and an FACup or EL trophy then project Conte will have been a success and we should be in good shape for whoever comes next.

The up coming world cup is going to make this window very interesting.

With the world cup being played mid season, you could realistically see a lot of traditional big teams have slumps since their stars will most likely be away playing in Qatar and come back quite ragged. There could be a few Leicester style league wins this season depending on how top heavy some of the big teams are.

Depending on how we boost the squad next season Conte could take us on a cheeky run towards the title. We have a few players that will be going to Qatar as well. So bolstering our squad with players who either are good but fall just short of making their national team squads, or play for nations that aren't going to Qatar could be smart.

Attacking cover is our biggest weakness in the scenario I envisage.

If we get a LCB, CM and a RWB in you can be fairly happy when their cover has to come in (Davies, Hojbjerg/Skipp, Doherty/Royal - maybe not).

But the drop off from Son, Kane and Kulu to Lucas, Bergjwin and Scarlett(?) is just way too big. It would be great if we could find another Kulu-level attacking signing to give us genuine cover and challenge the front 3.

It just seems a big ask to spend £200m on incomings and that is what it will take for the requisite quality.

Think we'd need another goalscorer for the front three.. not a guaranteed starter, but somebody to chip in with 7-10 goals. Or for Bergwijn to kick on in a way you'd have to deem unlikely at this stage.

Also doubt we'll contend seriously for a title with Sess/Reg at lwb.
Yes I forgot to add that we would need a breakout season from one of them to really compete at the top. I can't see us doing any business there unless Madrid do the buyback and force our hand.

I feel our LWB issues are really underrated by some because Reg has pace and Sess is young. Neither have proven they are the solution there but I'm not quite ready to write them off yet.

Of that list I'd say Sanchez, Rodon, Emerson, Winks and Bergjwin will be sold in the summer.

I feel like Gio or Gil will be used in a swap deal to get Pau Torres.

They are both rated in Spain, we had serious links to Torres last summer and we have done quite a bit of business with Villareal lately.

I also think this is how we get Ndombele out the door. Some kind of swap deal with an Italian team or maybe PSG get interested again.

And there could be some squad players for the elite Euro clubs clubs wanting to get more games next season to push themselves forward for WC slots.

Depends on who gets sold I guess..... And for how much.

Do we not focus on the Kane spot, then bring Gil back in and use one of Moura / Bergwijn as the third back up?

Not sure how much of a future Gil has under Conte tbh but lets see how he gets on in pre-season.

I think we need someone who can operate centrally but could also do a stint out wide that way they will see meaningful minutes and could push to get in ahead of Son or Kulu.

It we get a pure number 9 he will hardly play unless Kane goes down so really you are looking another Vinicius or a Weghorst type at best. They are gap-fillers and better than having no one but they will never really push for the first XI.

Someone in the Depay mould could work.

Sarr being loaned to a Lyon, especially if they make CL, would be really great I think - if he's likely to play.

Loan him to Lyon in exchange for them paying 30 million for ndombele and that's a good piece of business.
I have a feeling they might be a bit "once bitten, twice shy" wrt loaning a young French speaking midfielder from Spurs after this season...
I guess I can cross Noussair Mazraoui off my wanted list. Barca has tabled their offer according to Sport.es and so have Bayern, too. But Barca may consider selling Sergiño Dest. After a rather disappointing spell at Barca, he's started to play well lately.

I have a feeling I might be a bit "once bitten, twice shy" wrt purchasing an exotic sounding right back from Barcelona after this season...

Ask Real Madrid's management and fans about that... 🤔 They have a very different opinion about Bale's mentality for the last 2-3 seasons...
So you are saying that players like Lloris, Romero, Højbjerg, Bentancur, Son and Kane do not seem to have a winner mentality....

This is what was written about Bale in the Marca column published on the morning of the Austria game which really did not deserve his attention.

“The Bale parasite comes from the cold and rains of Britain,” wrote Manuel Julia. “It settled in Spain, at Real Madrid, where, disguising its intentions, it first showed diligence and love for the grass, but soon its nature brought it to suck blood without giving anything in return.

“More than blood, it sucked, and sucked, the club’s euros.

“Unlike others of its species, like the flea, the louse, or the bedbug, the Bale parasite does not produce pain or sickness in its grass, but after sucking, between smiles and messing around, shows a tongue-in-cheek disrespect for that off which it lives.

“He laughs, claps, throws itself to the ground, sings, in a kind of humiliating ceremony, which, at least, finally comes to an end, like all misfortunes.”

Bale helped Madrid to 4 Champions league titles and 2 Spanish titles and 4 league trophies, but yeah, keep telling us how it's Bale who has the bad mentality/attitude.

Madrid are over entitled cunts and in the top 3 of worst clubs for it. Have to take those € to play for fans who abuse you quickly.

I do wonder whether the glamour of playing for them has dimmed a bit post Covid and galactico era so be interesting to see where Mbaps and Haaland end up there.

What a horrible fucking club Madrid are, a complete circus, them the supporters the pro Madrid media are just a bunch of cunts, Bale hasn't covered himself in glory at Real but he doesn't deserve this sort of abuse by what's meant to be professional journalists.
