I'm somewhat confused why people are always saying things like we're getting/targeting a couple of the best players outside the top six when it is Bissouma and Raphinha but that doesn't equally apply to Richarlison. He's comfortably been Everton's best player for the last 4 seasons and still is only 25.

Everton have also been absolutely dross as everyone knows. I looked up who led them in assists during Richarlison's four seasons there and it was Richarlison himself this year (followed by Gray and Doucoure), Digne last year, and then Sigurdsson the previous two years. The lad has been feeding on absolute scraps in terms of service. In playing in a competent side with Brazil, he was their second leading scorer in WC qualifying behind only Neymar.

He's been at an elite level in terms of percentage of his team's goal involvements (G/A), he's by far Everton's best and most important player during the period he's been there. A couple of examples:

Richarlison (Age 21-25):
  • 18/19: Involved in 26% of Everton's goals
  • 19/20: 37%
  • 20/21: 22%
  • 21/22: 35%
Total: 30%

Son (Age 23-30)
  • 15/16: 7%
  • 16/17: 23%
  • 17/18: 24%
  • 18/19: 27%
  • 19/20: 34%
  • 20/21: 40%
  • 21/22: 44%
Total: 28.5%

Gabriel Jesus (Age 20-25):
  • 17/18: 15%
  • 18/19: 10.5%
  • 19/20: 20.5%
  • 20/21: 16%
  • 21/22: 16%
Total: 15.6%

Sadio Mane at Southampton (Age 22-24)
  • 14/15: 24%
  • 15/16: 29%
Total: 26.5%

Diogo Jota at Wolves (Age 21-23)
  • 18/19: 29%
  • 19/20: 16%
Total: 22.5%

Raphinha at Leeds (Age 23-25)
  • 20/21: 24%
  • 21/22: 33%
Total: 28.5%

People seem to hold Everton's record against him, but I actually think it is a positive in my eyes. He's been a consistent goalscorer playing with absolute dross and under 5 (!!!) different managers. Imagine what he could do playing with class like Kane, Son, Kulusevski, etc. and in a settled system coached by a world class manager in Conte. He could absolutely blow up here.

He's direct, strong, two footed, can score with his head, play RW,.LW, CF and as you have said he's done it in a very poor Everton team.

Also love his work ethic:

In 173 games his defensive input is as follows:

Tackles273
Blocked shots123
Interceptions78
Clearances176
Headed Clearance126

He has also averaged a goal every 3 games in his career and of his Assists have come from.32 big chances created so you'd like to think with better quality teammates around him that figure will get better as well.

PL experience who can cover RW, LW, FWD who can score and assist with his left, right, get goals with his head and doesn't mind the dirty work defensively. I am absolutely all for it for the depth and variety he offers.

Comparing Sons defensive contributions

232 games
Defence
Tackles156
Blocked shots127
Interceptions83
Clearances54
Headed Clearance23

Richarlison could even help us concede less from set pieces as well given his high headed clearance numbers. I think he could offer us fantastic diversity all in all.

Oh no, but if Woolwich get gazumped to all these targets, they might end up actually challenging us to a player.

Who's to know which one of us they'd pick...

This is key for me. Certainly as far as direct comparisons go, the fact Richarlison has been able to keep scoring despite being at that disorganised shower vs a Gabriel Jesus who has KDB serving up assists on a platter (when Pep bothers to play him) makes me think the former has way more potential when moving to another club. That doesn't even go into positional flexibility.

Also just... the eye test. Jesus looks like such a defeatist hands-in-the-air kind of player to me as opposed to Richarlison having a lot of bite. Just my personal feeling.

It’s vaguely worded, but I think it is saying that we’re paying Barca 5m total and that includes partial payment of his salary, with the implication being that Barca are picking up the rest. So a pretty favorable price.

I don’t mind getting Lenglet as a rotation option if we also get someone like Bremer.

Lenglet specifically been targeted as a left footed LCB to rotate with Davies - otherwise we have no natural cover for LCB.

Age 27, plenty of game time with Barcelona in Spanish league and CL and indeed 15 caps for French NT - but not last season where his game time was pretty low and same manager doesn't want him next season ...... but given Barcelona squad is a basket case atm, I d suggest Conte has looked at him and said to himself, 'I can re-make him back to being a decent LCB' if my top targets not available

If he works out, great, if not he goes back to Barcelona. Either way Conte can see if his first choice LCB's are available.

Decision to loan in Lenglet at LCB is totally separate from bringing in any other CB's - my guess is Lenglet replaces Rodon in the squad.

Any other incoming CB will probably cover CCB and RCB positions with plenty of potential game time if he covers both CB's. Possibly that CB would replace and be an upgrade on Sanchez ?

Scoring 10+ goals basically every season playing in front of the likes of Tom Davies, Andre Gomes, Sigurdsson, Doucoure, Allan, and Delph being managed by Marco Silva, Duncan Ferguson, washed Rafa Benitez, and Frank Lampard is more impressive than the records of 98% of strikers in world football tbh.

Talk about overcoming adversity!

richarlison might go up a few gears around better players. the better players always do. if hes starting for brazil while playing for everton around all the dross they have then thats a good sign already. i fancy him to score over 20 goals next year in all comps while being rotated. i think he looks the sort of player thats going to thrive around better service and better quality.

lenglet might also benefit in a conte system, if dier and davies have improved then a player like lenglet can find form too. hes far more talented than dier and davies so it could be a tidy addition. its hard to be a really shit CB in a back 3.

Dragon on COYS forum

The reason I posted last week that our money will much more likely Be going to goodison than Yorkshire is because it’s who conte wanted much more and right now conte has levys ear

conte wants defenders now , rodon is highly likely to be off we have tons of interest which means I expect two center half’s plus Spence to join

Enic realize two things right now

1- we have a world class manager who If backed will win things

2- Chelsea going for 4.25 billion I think it was whose infrastructure and stadium is vastly inferior to ours means that if we can add some serious silverware That Means Enic can sell for Mega money which is why after 21 years they finally made that 150 million available As if conte delivers trophies they will get that 150 back many times over

Maybe there isn’t a good enough target available, so we’re just treating it as a genuine loan.

He (Lenglet) was better than Bastoni was at the same age, he's got some flaws in his make up, but I don't think he's any more flawed than Bastoni, and Lenglet's even better on the ball, still one of the most comfortable CB's around on the ball. Bastoni, less mobile, would have looked even worse than Lenglet playing for this basket case Barca in a CB2 than Lenglet has IMO.

We're being linked with a bunch of LCB's, from what I've seen of them, they've all got upside, but I can't think of one out there that doesn't have some kind of flaw, so Lenglet on a try before you buy for a 5-10m hit seems like reasonably Ok business which allows us to still buy a couple more CB's anyway.

Edit
And like he wouldn't be an upgrade on Davies FFS.

Chelsea is a bit odd.

Going for Sterling and Raphinha while they have Havertz, Werner, Pulisic, Hudson Odoi, Ziyech.

Either going to have 6 wide forwards or they have some to sell.
Hudson Odoi will be back up LWB with Alonso leaving. Ziyech or Werner will be sold. Havertz plays false 9, where Sterling could be too.

Mount Sterling Raphinha
(Werner Havertz Pulisic)

So they’ll have 6 players for 3 attacking spots.
