Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Remember when people used to fawn over Leicester's transfers every Summer:

Something not right at Lester..... I'd be wary of anyone connected with the club right now..... Either Rodgers's days are numbered or there's some toxic types at play.

It might be that the owners aren't sure which either.

Yeah it's weird, they went from being super efficient and having one of the best recruitment setup in the league, to this?

Strange, maybe Rodgers' job isn't as secure as we think.

If we do exercise the rumoured buy back clause for KWP, the numbers & squad depth situation change significantly.

KWP is not just Association-trained, like Spence. He's full HG Spurs, so with Kane, Skipp, Austin or Whiteman as GK3, and KWP, we'd have 4 club HG. We would no longer have to keep one of Winks or Tanganga for HG reasons.

Also, although KWP is primarily a RWB, he did play on the left for Soton last season. With Perisic, Spence, Sess & KWP, we surely would be looking to sell one or even both of Doherty & Emerson.

Another conversation with Hasenhüttl arguably sowed the seeds for Walker-Peters’ elevation. “He said: ‘If you want to play for England, it’s important you show them you can play on the left as well,” Walker-Peters says. “He said: ‘Look at Trippier. At the Euros, he played left-back some of the time.’ I’d say versatility is definitely a quality that Gareth appreciates.”

Known primarily as a right-back, Walker-Peters has starred on the left for Southampton this season. That said, Southgate has used him on the right in training and it could be where he makes his debut.

“I feel just as comfortable in either position,” Walker-Peters says. “It was a bit of a surprise to people when I started playing left-back this season but I’ve been doing it for a long time, throughout the England youth ranks – including at the Under-20 World Cup.”

Kyle Walker-Peters happy to ‘prove people wrong’ after England call-up
Regardless, Winks has to go ... OK 😉 :richtongue:

If this deal happens, how much will we have spent and what have we earned in sales so far?

He won’t rank up with Bissouma or Perisic for elite name but I have been quite excited to get him.

Obviously caught the eye against Woolwich in the cup. He is very raw but we haven’t had a full back/wing back with this level of speed or physical power and aggression since Walker. The game against Woolwich he murdered Martinelli who is one of Arsenals quickest players so having someone who has out and out elite pace will be a benefit.

Boy got game…

Contes fitness and nutrition gives him every chance of being top class, plus the shape gives him room to run.

Excellent physique for hard gruel, but off gait on hips but that the dribblers way very often.

Good signing.

I think Spence would be the last of the "must-have" signings. If the right deal can be struck for a CB or an attacking midfielder I think we will go for it, but with Spence the squad will be complete.
Agree that we will have addressed the critical areas but I wouldn't go as far as to say the squad is complete.

We have done amazing business to get these 6 in practically before the second pre-season game kicks off and that will give us breathing space to pounce on some big targets.

I would be pretty amazed if our incomings stop after Spence especially when you consider the following could all still leave:
Sold: Winks, Reguilon, GLC
Maybe sold: Rodon, Emerson
Loaned: Ndombele, Gil, Parrott, Sarr

I think the no-brainer moves are:
- Additional CB (especially critical if Rodon leaves). Needs to be at least better than Sanchez and Tanganga (Pau Torres)
- AM/FW - Very happy with our front 4 but we could really do with a Lucas upgrade to relegate him to 6th choice and give us a shit hot first 5.
6 attackers for those 3 positions would be ideal. (Anyone's guess who this could be)

Get those two and that's a complete squad IMO.

I personally think Spence will be our last signing. Are people happy with this? I don’t think we are going to go all out for this other CB now Lenglet is here and I certainly don’t think we are spending big on a CAM either. I personally think we need another top centre back and that’s it, but I highly doubt we will do anymore business after Spence apart from outgoings. The positives are all our business is nearly done and finally we go into a season prepared. I think Spurs fans are being way over optimistic if you think we are signing anyone else after Spence.
