Zaniolo looks more of a ball carrier to me, maybe Conte prefers a player like that in that role?
I think it's very likely we'll sign a CB as cover for Dier now that Rodon's gone. It's a glaring hole in the squad. When Dier was out last year, we suffered.

Football clubs to not have to publicly put their players up for sale for the transfer market to function.
It's up to the buying club to go out and pursue their target and far more often than not the clubs with the financial muscle (and we are one of those, ain't we?) get their way and the weaker club succumbs.

If its Zaniolo as the attacking option then i reckon the centre back will have to be homegrown. No way we can offload the 6 or 7 foreign trained players we'd need to in 4 weeks. Can really only think of Marc Guehi and Kilman that might be good enough.

I'd be underwhelmed with Zaniolo but i guess you have to trust the judgement of Paratici and Conte who have obviously seen a lot of him. They've steered us pretty well on Serie A players so far.

1. Desire of potential buyer.
2. Desire of 'owning' club.
3. Desire of player.
Without all 3 in synch there is no deal.
Without no. 2 & 3 in place; a player is essentially "UNAVAILABLE."
