I didn't say we should sign another Emerson type. I say we wait until we find a player who excels in defence and attack rather than taking a punt on someone like Spence. This special player will take time to find but we'll know him when we see him.
Just because we have this £150m it doesn't mean we have to let it burn a hole in our pocket.

I want pretend to be anything close to a football nerd, but I’ve watched a fair bit of him this season and last, enough to mention him as the sort of player we should target about six/seven months ago (not that this means anything).
He’s exceedingly aggressive, bombing forward at any and every opportunity. His crossing is good, but perhaps a little overrated. Excellent from set pieces. The total opposite of Sess, who gets a nosebleed when he crosses the half way line ( although he is getting better).
He’s a genuine WB, would be a great addition, especially at the price.

I actually think he tailed off towards the end of season, but perhaps understandable if he’s thinking of a move.
If I had a criticism it’s that he’s sometimes a case of quantity of crosses, rather than quality, but again, that comes with being aggressive.
This. Conte has not been the kind of manager who demands only world class players. Yes, there will be one or two on his list with the rest likely being reasonably priced players, but ones that fit his system to a tee.
The player we should try to get for left wingback is Tyrell Malacia. Hope we forget Kostic/Persic

I am starting to like him more and more...
He has shown quite decent end product over course of 7 seasons now.
Based on info in Transfermarkt he basically started from ST / wide-forward positions and ended in LWB in Lyon. But has played bit of everything. Latter fact should mean he can be versatile and could adapt to new specific role as LWB in Conte's system + has goal awareness in him from playing in attacking positions.
For 17 mil and EPL proven - I think we could do lot worse.

I just don’t want anymore ‘bits and pieces’ players. Can do a job here, but also play there. That’s what our academy can deliver.
We need to give Conte the very best WBs on offer. Not a hint of compromise.
