I find the Lenglet thing hard to believe, no way would we move on that quickly from Bastoni and also we’d likely at least have a go at Gvardiol or Torres first. Think we’re just trying to get Bastoni to make a call.

The individual players are rhetorical.... Fact (and point) remains that 3 or 4 'top signings' will each require 'top' wages..... With elite players commanding 300-500kpw and upwards; the 150-200kpw mark isn't even 'top' wages anymore.

As for the further outgoings you mentioned; looking at the wage comparisons we'd still be looking at a ratio of like 3/4 out to every 1 top player in.

If any agent worth their salt sees us significantly upping our wage-bill they'll inevitably want a slice for their client. Also factor in imminent contract extensions which typically come with a pay-rise.

After seeing Gold today seems like the club are going to loan in Lenglet, wait for Bastoni final answer by the end of the international break and then go for him or another CB on the list Ali was talking about.

Martinez was literally stated to have been signed last summer by a mainstream UK newspaper..... That should have taught us all a lesson; let alone in respect of twitter dirge and ITK wannabe's.

Worthwhile repeating that Paratici's rumoured modus operandi is to negotiate with up to 10 players for one position at the same time, before pulling the trigger on one or two of these.

All means we are likely to hear lots of rumours of players coming, some of which have more than a grain of truth ....... but we'll actually sign only a small proportion of those rumoured

People are just making stuff up. I’m usually the first to complain and moan about the time it takes us to do business but the season only just finished a couple of weeks back
