Transfers Summer 2022 Transfer Thread.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I mean if he requires that much convincing I’m unsure……

Mate; it's just the latest in a never ending succession of 3-way games of millionaire's poker (Spurs <> Agent <> Sellling club).... We had this exact same saga with Romero last summer....

Just let it play out and see what happens... It's still essentially 'last season'.

I do agree actually

No one has a clue what’s going on with Bastoni

I seriously doubt that he’s completely turned us down or agree to sign at all yet

People are just making stuff up. I’m usually the first to complain and moan about the time it takes us to do business but the season only just finished a couple of weeks back

Totally zen about this transfer window. What Conte wants, Paratici finds and Levy pays. Simple enough. Shame we got it so wrong for so long.
I’m just looking forward to seeing our new additions, whoever they are, lining up with our current crop.

We need to, and will sell some of the fringe players, but that’s life.

Couldn’t be more chillaxed about it

I mean more from our side. Surely the fee if bought alone would be pretty fucking big and we would want sales or a part swap to help.

Key addition to your comments....

A swap isn't an essential component to any deal so long as we have funds or saleable assets.

If anything, a swap is a complication... An additional obstacle.... Not something that makes a deal easier.

Spurs fans are so goddamn reactionary. Lenglet is a good footballer who’s lacking confidence. Conte could work his magic. Many Spurs fans were also wary of Kulu and Bentancur.

Some of these fans let the media and other teams fans sway their opinion on a player.

Peresic deal amounts to 180pkw allegedly.

We could ditch Winks, Rodon, Emerson & Giollini and still barely cover that wage vs wage.

In the next breath (eg):

SMS too.... That's probably another 200kpw?
Bissouma.... 100-150kpw?
Hakimi... 200kpw-ish
Eriksen..... 150-200kpw (would want a fat wage too being a free trf).....

If we spend 150m on 3 or 4 top players (whomever they may be); each will want top wages t'boot. We'd probably need the remaining 80m you cited from player sales to cover the wage/bonus hike.

Don't be surprised if Kane & Sonny and one or two others come looking for a payrise too.

I'm not writing anything off, but whilst the optimistic unknown aspect of our current situ is fun; as said above 150m isn't some magic fast-track to the top shelf of the trf market and a title challenge......

A whole load of that weight would still lay with a combo of 'Conte magic' and the existing squad members.
I'm not saying the wages saved will completely account for all the new wages coming in. Also, our wage to revenue ratio is the best in the league, we can afford to add a lot more wages regardless of sales or cash injection.

We're not just ditching Winks, Rodon, Emerson and Gollini. We're also talking about Lo Celso, Reguilon, Bergwijn, and possibly even Sanchez as well as recent departure Dele, who was supposedly on 140k.

I don't see us getting Hakimi, if we did get SMS, I don't see us offering him 200k, same with Eriksen, he's a lot older and less fit, even on a free, he can't expect 200k. 150k for Bossouma is well within our reach.

Kulu, Romero and Benta, Son just signed so I don't see any wage issues cropping up soon. Kane is the only significant wage rise we could expect from the exsiting squad. Maybe Davies and Dier? Others can't really demand a pay rise, as their performance isn't gonna have better teams knocking on our door.

I'm okay with Lenglet on loan. He was pretty good before Barça, we are saving money and he may become good. Also he will fit a position we have only one player avaliable and it seems clear we need depth in the squad. Get him and maybe Bremer if Bastoni collapses and we'll have a hell of a defense.

I'm just thinking another midfielder would be more of an urgency, as Pape Sarr probably isn't ready yet.

I'm neutral on Lenglet, but it doesn't have to be other fans or media swaying an opinion on him. Anybody who's watched Barcelona over the past few years can see he's been disastrous at times, giving away terrible penalties, mis-controlling loose balls and being out-muscled regularly. It's okay to be unhappy with a potential deal.

Nope. If Conte gets what he asks for, it’s all on him and his training/fitness team.
First time in a long time we’ve gone into a window with purpose and transparency.
When we’ve spent big, we’ve generally fucked the job by paying over the odds for shite like Ndombele and Lo so so.
I’m confident this window.

Absolutely agree with this. For those concerned about whether Bissouma has the chops, look at how integral Henderson has become to the Liverpool midfield since Klopp got his hooks into him. Comparably speaking, I'd say Bissouma has a higher ceiling under Conte, he improves players, same as Klopp does.

£30M for him and Eriksen, who's quality and work rate we already know about, would be excellent business and would definitely improve our midfield significantly, both from a quality perspective and from a strength in depth perspective, allowing us to rotate and play alternative formations.
Agreed. That would be 2 excellent additions to the squad.

Yeah seems odd that we had reports of personal terms being agreed, why bother if you're not interested in coming?

Brinkmanship for sure going on. Players probably happy either way.

I’ve seen Peresic reported as 95k per week. Is this a pre/post tax thing?

No disrespect to Tottenham - European Super League royalty, best stadium in England without an NG postcode, chicken badge, etc - but if Djed has a choice between Spurs and Forest I suspect he’s going to choose the latter.

He comes across as quite an introverted character despite appearances. He was alienated at Middlesbrough and said that he just wanted to go somewhere where he could enjoy his football again. He’s repeatedly said that he loves it at Forest, where he can truly develop his talent. Cooper is a top coach for young players and has built an amazing team spirit. Our style of play suits him. And Djed’s Mum also loves Forest and led our pitch invasion. So all signs are that he’d stay with us rather than sit on your bench and that would be the right thing for his career, IMO.

Basically, what I am saying is:

Warnock gave us Spence and said ‘he’s shite, he’s shite’,
Warnock gave us Spence and said ‘he’s shite, he’s shite’,
Colin thought that Spence was shite,
But now he’s f**king dynamite,
And we all love Djed Spence down at the City Ground!

What surprises me is we aren't being linked to any midfielder apparently, we will probably only have Skipp, Hojbjerg and Bentancur for the next season and if we are going to play 3-5-2 some game we'll need at least two more.
