people don't understand that with players like kane, son you can't have vlahovic and neymar on the bench.

Silly season really in full swing now :mourhandlaugh:

Bill Madrid Bill Madrid ?

And i will say this again for those at the back….

The club/Levy doesnt want to be fighting every season for top 4, we want to cement our position in the top 4. Do City, Liverpool and Chelsea fight every season for top 4? No, ok Chelsea have a bit for a couple of seasons, but those teams are nailed on to be in the top 4, with two of them competing for the title. 4th place and maybe 3rd are up for grabs for a team to make it their own. Spurs to fight for the top 4 or cement that position, what do you think Levy wants? Or the club needs?👍👍

‘TODAY IT’S TOTTENHAM’: COACH NOT SURPRISED BY SPURS LINKS WITH HIS STAR MAN

Dynamo Kiev coach Emil Caras has played down reports linking Ukrainian defender Illlya Zabarnyi with a move to Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur, speaking to Sport Analytic.

It doesn’t take long to realise why a teenager with just two seasons of regular first-team football under his belt has plenty of admirers in North London.

Zabarnyi may be 19 years of age but he certainly doesn’t look it. The Dynamo Kiev academy graduate plays the game with a maturity and an awareness usually associated with defenders at the peak of their powers.

His reading of the game is very impressive. As is his positioning sense. Zabarnyi tends to put his 6ft 2ins frame to excellent use too, those rangy, telescopic legs the perfect tools with which to snatch back possession and put an early end to opposition counter attacks. Zabarnyi is two-footed as well, and has already has 22 caps for the Ukrainian national team.

What’s not to like?

WILL TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR BRING IN ILLYA ZABARNYI?

“I’d keep a little eye on him. I do know that Spurs are having a really good look at him as a potential signing, so maybe he’s the one,” reporter Alisdair Gold says on his official YouTube channel.

“I guess that if there was to be a surprise (signing), that would be the one.”

‘Surprise’ is not a word you could use to describe the reaction in Ukraine to Tottenham’s alleged interest. Dynamo Kiev will be fully aware that, as long as Zabarnyi continues to go from strength to strength, transfer rumours will never be far away.

“Zabarny, at 19, is already an adult footballer,” says Caras. “He lacks experience. He has only played at a high level for two years.

“(But) he is ready to play at the highest level. A lot depends on us, and a lot depends on the clubs that are interested in him. Today it is Tottenham, tomorrow (the media) will write something else.

“Now, it is the transfer window. They write a lot.”

THE FINAL PIECE IN SPURS’ DEFENSIVE JIGSAW?

Tottenham have made a left-sided centre-half their top priority this summer but finding one is proving to be easier said than done. Zabarnyi might not be a natural left-footer but he certainly has the balance and the ambidexterity to slot in alongside Cristian Romero and Eric Dier in Antonio Conte’s preferred three-man backline.

“Zabarnyi is a good player,” says former Ukraine coach Yozhef Sabo

“I think he will be more expensive (than £25 million). It is clear that he is a great football player. (Dynamo Kiev) need to sell him. In a year or two, Zabarnyi will cost 50 million euros.”

People don't like us doing business like this and would rather we spent loads of dosh and as a result have a high net spend just because it shows ambition
Or that, erm,,,, ,doing business like this, as you put it, has resulted in a net return of 1 Carling Cup on 20 odd years and 0 trophies in 15 years while our rivals have filled their boots.

People like you banged on about how we would be spending now we have Conte & CL so all the Levy/ENIC critics would be made to look silly as the investment was coming. Now you're covering your tracks by preparing for the investment NOT coming but saying that's OK as long as we improve the squad?

These goalposts .. will they ever stop moving?

No indication that Lucas is off.

Winks - 22
Berg - 20
Lo Celso - 22
Régulion - 23

That’s a total of 87m.

We’ve spent 30 on Bissouma. If you add Rich AND Raph then that’s 115m on top. So a deficit of about 60m before we’ve addressed défence or rwb and without any more significant money to be made from sales.

And that’s if Romero/Kulu money has been budgeted from last year.

There is no way we are signing two new expensive forwards and this is one of those weird unrealistic internet fantasies. Along with step sister porn.
In your scenario we would have net spent 60m (actually 54m as you didn't include CCV sale). We have just had 150m injected so that leaves 96m to spend.

This is purely looking at the 150m and not considering any operating profits generated this year.

That 96m easily buys a top class LCB and RWB.

Also, potential sales of Gil, Emerson, Rodon to be considered.

Absolutely doable.

Bearing in mind we've already starting "spending".

What minimum net spend amount would be acceptable?

Fact is we've already had people melting about not having all our big deals wrapped up within 11(!!!) days of the window opening and classic behavior from one of the resident trolls who's mouth is literally watering at the prospect of something going askew and Conte kicking off.

I have no idea. But I find it very funny that a lot of people were getting very smug over the cash injection and acting like it now meant the spending was on its way, now at the very sign that might not be the case, the goalposts have been shifted and its as long as the squad improves who cares about investment!

We've made a few canny signings but there are times when a club needs to bite the bullet and spend, particularly when it comes to attacking players. Let's see where we end up..

No reason we can't do something like this with the cash injection + CL + operating profit:

Bissouma - 30
RWB - 20
LCB - 50
CF - 50
AM - 50

200m

With sales that's probably net 110m.

At this stage of window, that looks very 'dooable' and may not be too far away from Spurs thoughts.

Just depends on availability of appropriate players - and our non pursuit of Jesus suggests we are being careful in our selections to minimise the risks of signing more Ndombele's

"A lot of people" or is this just an axe you grind with Shadydan Shadydan ?

over the cash injection and acting like it now meant the spending was on its way, now at the very sign that might not be the case,

What "signs" are these then?

There's been no credible news or club statement to such an effect

All that's happened here is 'you know who' stirred the pot and a few voices here responded.... I doubt those same voices were jizzing at the thought of big spending to begin with.

the goalposts have been shifted and its as long as the squad improves who cares about investment!

Indeed..... It's only melts and trolls that aren't doing so.

Still, for ease of reference; the question still stands:

What minimum net spend amount would be acceptable?

...Because it's obvious the knives will be out for some unless we hit extreme levels of 300m or more.
