Transfers Summer 2022 Transfer Thread.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If Real offer 90 million for Son, I'm sure we can replace him with a similar quality player (Raph, Nkunku, other), who is also younger and can have a similar impact. I don't want to see him go; I love the fucking guy. But we should not be afraid to sell a star player assuming we have good scouting in place to replace him with a younger version.
Not really the message we want to be sending out. We‘re building momentum at the moment and entertaining an offer for Sonny would set back the excellent work CoNate’s already achieved.

People need stop being short sighted and start thinking that we need to be considered as nailed on for top 4, not just fighting for it. Let the others fight for it.

Guess this is the summer we go big, build the core of Contes team for next few seasons.

Each window coming, add additional pieces as needed to maintain/push on (even if that is a 70m Van Dyk as example)

I'll be amazed if this is a transfer. The Turks love a cut price loan..

Probably a free transfer with subsidised wages?

Still think makes more financial sense for it to be a loan, even if it’s free, but contribute to wages if we need too.

There’s always the chance he gets it together and actually attracts interest in a transfer.

The fact we have £150 million does not mean we will spend all £150 million of that money on players that cost £150 million. Transfers don't work like that with amortisation. Conte could buy 6 players @ £50 million each all payments spread over 5 years. That's £300 million total commitment but only £60 million spent in this year in the books.

What will make you more happy:

1. Conte spends £300 million but is annoyed that he didn't get the players he wanted.
2. Conte spends £80 million, but gets every single one of his targets.

In the past we've spent so much on players that were brought in without a plan. Now we have a coach that knows how he wants to play and the type of player (not x player) he wants for that position.

It shouldn't matter what we spend as long as we spend it on what Conte wants and he has the squad he's happy with to challenge.
Great explanation.

We’ve got the stadium. We’ve got the training facility. We’ve got the manager. Covid has fucked off. We’ve got a cash injection(why?🤷‍♂️🤣). What do you all think is the plan? To compete for 4th🤷‍♂️🤣 open your fucking eyes and start to think like winners👍👍

I haven't said it does mean that. Like, at all. I've said that people are already preparing excuses for an underwhelming window even though it's only just begun. Said people were extremely smug and claiming we were about to see high levels of spending, but have now switched to 'if we bring in the players Conte wants, who cares?.

It's a ludicrous question because the overwhelming likelihood is that the players Conte wants most aren't all going to be cheap. We don't know who he wants aside from Bastoni (who we understandably can't get) and possibly other links like Lautaro or Pau Torres. They aren't cheap.

Let's see how the window unfolds. I'm not complaining about it at all, just saying that people seem to be preparing already for low spending relative to expectations, and I don't understand why. The likelihood of it all being by Conte's design seems exceptionally low given his own history.

2 weeks in... hmmm

The original club statement read: "the equity injection [a capital increase of up to £150m} provides the club with greater financial flexibility and the ability to further invest on and off the pitch."

It doesn't actually say '£150m transfer warchest', unlike in the rat tabloid headlines sent to print

The statement actually says 'up to £150m', along with 'investments on and off the pitch'

According to reports, current transfers equate to;

£6.26m on the signing of Yves Bissouma
£9.4m on the permanent signing of Cristian Romero
£5.3m on the loan fee of Dejan Kulusevski

£1.5m for the sale of Cameron Carter-Vickers

The fans can be as positive as anything, ultimately the level of ambition shown this summer is out of our hands. Early signs are promising but if we want to be winners then they need to prove it as of now.

hallelujah GIF

Fucking bored of the moaners

It's not even July yet for Christ sake! :akabusi:

Thanks.
You and RC have totally changed my outlook on transfers.
