Aaaghhh... I've already stepped out to defend Dier.
Now with Davies as well??!? Getting dull now.

Anywaaaay... our defense has let in 0,77 goals on average in 13-games run that includes 4 out of 5 "top 6" opposition + Wet Spam, Leicester and newly-rich Newcastle. During that time our ppg has been 2,23 and GD of +24.

So - no. Davies position obviously is not a top priority where improvement is most pressing (top 3) issue. It would be possible to upgrade him, and in future he very well might be a squad player. But to say after such run of performances where I would say that from left side we have been even less vulnerable than through the middle / from the right - that is not fair and treating Davies performances with justice. Just with how bling/cool/big name he is or is not.
bastoni is for conte what van dijk is for klopp.
he is not only a good defender (like davies has proved to be), but is also a game-constructor,
the left-side of romero

maybe you're right that we have other priorities, but davies-rodon for the LCB spot is quite poor to me

Paratici is said to work on probably half a dozen possible players for each position he wants to fill.

So given the expectations of most people that we want perhaps 6 incoming players ....... that's about 40 'leaked names' which we might hear about ..... or if its Igula wanting 20 players its 120 names ! And then there's the names bandied around by journalists or agents wanting to move their players on and mentioning 'Spurs want him' to make him sound better.

All of which means that probably 90% of the names we hear .... aren't joining us.

So don't take things too seriously ....... especially in the next few weeks when few clubs will sign many players !

Rodon should be cover for Dier, as Conte mentioned at some point.

I mean, don't get me wrong - I would not have anything to have another Romeroesque player in the defense... But my point was that this should not be highest in the list of priorities. I see that two wingbacks both are where we are hurting more, even if Sess is stepping up. We also desperately need very strong CM player who could progress the ball quicker (but would be able to support defense as well) and then we still seem to have only 3 players for 3 attacking roles - Moura has no end product and Bergwijn is not trusted (and most likely off).

So if I would put it list of priorities, it would be -
1) press-resistent CM with strong progressive passing game
2) RWB
3) LWB
4) another ST / or someone who could play across front-line
5) another LCB

I honestly feel that as net-effect, those 4 roles will benefit team more across the season than LCB.
But I can respect different opinions as well.

If Real Madrid are after Milinkovic-Savic, yes, forget about Spurs having a chance - and with Kroos being 32, Cashemiro 30 and Modric turning 37 it makes sense for them to look for replacements.
I have my doubt about Dest's defensive qualities but he's got the technique of an attacker but I can understand him wanting to work with a familiar coach (although he not long ago said he was happy at Barca).

BARCELONA are ready to let full-back Sergino Dest leave for £24m, with Man Utd said to be in the driving seat if they choose to bid.

Chelsea are reported to be interested in the American, but Dest is said to have his heart set on working with Eric ten Hag again.

Meanwhile, Leeds' Kalvin Phillips has reportedly told friends he will never move to Old Trafford.

And the Red Devils face a battle with Real Madrid for the signature of Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
I was told last season Philips would rather go Spurs than any other top six club and that included City. If we want him he'd come. Just get him Bissouma (PENDING INNOCENCE) and Eriksen back then. Its all about wingbacks and a LCB.

Yes he says this on the Juve all or nothing, lists for each position and sometimes having to go quite far down a list to fill a position.

So, so far, looking quite hopeful of getting

Sam Johnston
Djed Spence
Alessandro Bastoni

Inject Fran Healy GIF by Travis

P.S Anybody who thinks Spence is a 'meh' signing has never watched a game of football in their life, and are quite simply, wrong.

No debate needed here - just accept my comments as gospel and shut the fuck up.
He's a good player, not sure he's what we need week-in, week-out at RWB in what Conte will expect to be a team that gives off some impression of a title challenge over the next season or two. His delivery and defending will need much improvement, his ball carrying is outstanding.

Well look at how Sessegnon is improving under Conte. If Djed can remain injury free, I'd be very surprised if Conte couldn't massively improve him :)

A Leeds supporting mate reckons the talk in Leeds is about him joining Woolwich, he's a bitter boy though when it comes to Spurs so probably just being a cunt...I reckon he'd fancy Champions League personally.

We must be a very attractive proposition now with the manager, stadium, CL, existing players, London, good wages, training ground etc.

Perfect time to capitalize, just need to get the transfers right.

His delivery is great as it is. His defending and positioning need improvement, and there's no better manager at coaching that for a WB than Conte.

Saka would be mad to sign with them. That group of players who resigned with us in the Poch years often lived to regret it (Eriksen, Dele, Kane and Rose all missed out on a move). He should only be signing for Haaland money.
Saka is not worth Haaland money, as he's been rather average this season. That doesn't mean he can't improve though. The only place where he could even be a starter at Man City is as a LB but I doubt he'll go back to being a defender again...

Perhaps you're right about Saka: but that's a really bad rationale.

- Eriksen didn't renew and get 'stuck' here.... He declined to sign a new deal and left on his own terms having wound his deal down.
- Dele signed a new deal whilst we were a top EPL club.... His form deteriorated and no big offers came.
- The only time Rose might have got a big move was when his form peaked, but he got a bad injury and was never the same again. He also publicly stated he'd ensure he saw every last drop of money out of his contract and was said to turn down moves in his last couple of years.

Kane is a theory maybe, but again we were flying when he signed his deal.

None of this translates to Saka; who's a bright prospect playing for a fairly shit team. Each was also in a different stage of their career to Saka who's only recently 'broken out".
