Whilst I’d love to sign Bastoni, if he’s really not ready to play in the Premier League but is forced to moved, this could end badly.

I’m sure Conte and Perisic should help him settle but having someone play somewhere they don’t want to be isn’t ideal.

And whilst we’re at it, please let Bergwijn go if we can’t utilise him. I really like him and hope he stays but I don’t want to see a young talent just waste away on our bench resigned to ten minute cameos. He really deserves better.
I agree on Bergwjin. Truth be told he would be fine with 10 minute cameos but he usually only gets injury time. He needs a run of games and I just don’t see how we know what we have if he doesn’t get them.

If Bastoni wants to stay at Inter then we need to move to the next target. Don’t have much faith in folks who aren’t excited about coming to Tottenham.
Its coming down to the tomato sauce. Conte has banned it completely but Bastoni is insisting. There may well be a deal to be done as Bastoni only wants natural ingredients used including beautiful pomodori imported from the Milan region and this will probably be ok with Conte. Fingers crossed🤞

Yeah meltdowns at “not being linked” by click bait Twitter twats and tabloid press who all lie! People need to chill the fuck out
Are the meltdowns beginning in early June this year?

These rumors at this point are not going to move quickly. We signed perisic because we had no club to negotiate with. Most other clubs management are probably on holiday at this point

Bastoni position seems pretty simple :

- Inter have very big debts and need to raise money by selling a player.
- Bastoni is one of their most valuable players, and with only 2 years left on his contract Inter needs to sell now or risk contract running down to 12 months and his value reducing.
- Bastoni likes Conte but feels no particular need to move from Inter atm.
- Inter could raise money by selling Bastoni and replace him with Bremer, and that seems to be the way things are seen by Inter.

This is likely to end with Inter telling Bastoni they cannot afford to keep him, and time to move club.

The fact that the bid has got this far means Spurs will have (with Inter's permission) have been speaking to Bastoni's agent to agree wages, fees etc and that appear to have been done.

Bastoni also probably wants the club to give him a nudge so he can say to fans 'I never wanted to leave you' .

IMO this transfer will go through fairly quickly (might be delayed to internationals going on right now), although a small chance it won't, ad at that point we move on.

But its still early June, so might be mid June (after internationals) before deal finally goes through

Meanwhile Inter are starting on their summer business of signings - and will want Bastoni's wages off their books soon.

Anyone seen Bastoni linked to any other Italian clubs?

If not, then I'd expect Inter's need to sell to prevail in our favour.

It’s a difficult situation.

If he stays for next season, it’ll truly show what he can do in Conte’s system when we’re in for all four trophies and I’m sure he’ll get much more match time as Kane or Sonny will be rested.

But from his perspective, will he want to stay on the off chance he’ll get games or go somewhere that is guaranteed minutes.

If there was truth to us attempting to get Lukaku, I’d much prefer we tried to keep Bergwijn; outside of being shorter, he has the qualities to hold up the ball, is quite strong and can definitely finish as well (if not better!) than Lukaku.

People have gone from ‘get conte whoever he wants, whatever it takes’ to ‘move on to our other options, we can’t get him’ in a matter of days. It’s barely June - chill out, we will get who we need.

The way I would look at it with Bastoni is: imagine you were playing for spurs and a team like Real Madrid came in for you. Massive chance to win silverware, playing for one of the best coaches in the world but in a different league and have to leave your boyhood club. That is not an easy thing to do and that has absolutely nothing to do with how Bastoni rates us. We will get it over the line eventually, I believe.

This is probably a very real understanding of where we are and what to expect.

For me, the key is that Conte has been in repeated contact with Bastoni. That doesn’t happen without Inter’s blessing.
