If Conte is fine with either one of the two, I would rather the beast defender. He'll have a place in the team if the manager changes. If Bastoni isn't close to Bremer/Romero levels in defending, but is signed just because he is good at bringing the ball out, then a new manager may not fancy him. Of course, if his defending is superb also, it's a no-brainer, but I haven't seen anyone talking about his defending much which worries me.
As far as playing out from the back, the system should help someone who is not as good with the ball at his feet, as it will tell him exactly what positions to take and what passing lanes to look for. Someone who is not as adept at defending, however, will take a lot more time to learn that aspect.
Just me 2 cents worth.
Conte will choose/ask for the defender who most suits the system he plays.
From the number of leaks about Bastoni, that's Conte's first choice
I would be amazed if this happens to be honest.
Can you really see Bale coping with a conte pre season or training sessions? He would break instantly and conte and Bale will know this

I agree. He could easily not sign for another club and just keep himself fit until the finals. It’s not like he was playing games for Madrid to keep up his match fitness.
Bale at 10% is 1000% better than Lukaku .
If you are Conte and needing a top forward on for last 20 minutes of a match to get a goal you look at your bench which has Moura and Bale on - who do you choose ?

I honestly hope not. His body just can't handle it anymore and Conte's pre-season might kill him.
Conversely, if he survives pre-season then his fitness would be fantastic going into the World Cup.
Depends if he thinks he's up to it I guess.
I worry about him going to Cardiff...just think some Championship cloggers would be out to make names for themselves against him and he risks injury that way.
Just go to the gym and play golf til Nov would be my advice.
Not sure it’s that simple tbh. Bale is not the player he was and I prefer the choice of someone better, and someone better than just being a last 20 minute sub. We have 3 very good options in the front 3 and Lucas as a back up/sub option what we really need is another player who will really push the starting 11 like Liverpool have
I think he should go to Cardiff. Play for his hometown club, tear it up in the championship for 3 months, keep his fitness up and then call it a day after the world cup as it appears he is quite happy to retire.
