I like Jesus, I think he is a good player. But he is better out wide, and the goons will force feed him up front. It wont be as successful as it could be because he isn’t really the player they need. They need a goal scorer.
It's like they hire for personal taste more than for tactical fit.

E.g. Raphina is more to my personal taste as a player but for us Richarlison makes much more sense. So I'd rather we get Richarlison.

PS the link don't work because the word Woolwich gets changed to Woolwich on this forum
That is fecking annoying.

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to open talks regarding a potential move to the Premier League for Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez next week, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham even went as far as to offer £60 million for Lautaro 10 months ago. Now, it seems they are ready to test the waters again.

“Sometimes the press talks about his possible transfer but he only thinks of Inter,” explains his agent Alejandro Camano.

“We’re not looking for a negotiation to take him elsewhere. He’s happy at Inter, the city is wonderful. He’s only focussing on Inter.

“Lautaro is growing as a footballer. Let’s not forget that he is still 24 years old. He is already establishing himself as one of the best strikers on the international scene.

The Argentina international has already turned down Woolwich this summer, according to The Times.

Tottenham have been urged to forget signing Richarlison because he would not be a "statement signing". Former Spurs striker Teddy Sheringham believes his old team should instead focus on alternative big-name targets.

Everton star Richarlison has been linked with a move to north London after helping the Toffees stay in the Premier League. Antonio Conte has already made two signings in Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster, and is closing in on Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma.

But Sheringham does not think Richarlison would be a wise signing, claiming there are already enough players of his ilk at the club. He told Lord Ping: "I don't think he's what is needed now.

"Tottenham have got good attacking players; [Harry] Kane, [Heung-min] Son, [Dejan] Kulusevski, [Steven] Bergwijn is still there, [Lucas] Moura is still there. We’ve got players in the Richarlison mold and I don’t think he would be a statement signing that would get teams worried.

"If they were to sign him, what would the result be? In my day, when we signed [Jurgen] Klinsmann, a proper World Class player, everyone in the dressing room was buzzing.

"We knew what we were going to get from him. You need players that are going to take you to the next level and I don’t think Richarlison is one of them."

Tottenham are back in the Champions League after finishing fourth in the Premier League last term. And Sheringham would like to see a couple of major incomings give what he feels is a much-needed boost to the squad.

He added: "I'd like to see at least two more players go in there. Statement signings that show the world Tottenham are changing the stature of the club.
As if the players need a Messi to come in to be buzzing. Conte alone is enough to get the dressing room buzzing and then some.

Hear me out. We could do worst. For a reasonable fee…

Bissouma walks into our midfield don’t he? Unbelievable signing. We think he will partner Bentecur? Perisic another starter at LWB. We have already strengthened the starting 11 and squad. Brilliant so far.

Champions League football will do Spurs’ chances no harm either.
Do you think £60 million is a fair price?

Think the fixture list will be so congested that we'll see many pairings in midfield, and one or both subbed in most games. 6 CL groupstage matches being run off over an 8 week period.

Don't really know who'll be thought of as the first choice pairing(feel it'll be Biss/Benta) but I think they'll all get enough gametime to prove they should be in it.

Without a shadow of a doubt. The one who does best in attack is the one who joins him IMO. Unless in a surprise twist Bissouma is the box to box player, and the other guy is the holding mid. In that setup I think Skipp could be the one.
