Transfers Summer 2022 Transfer Thread.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Eleven PL players were signed that season for twice as much money.

11 players were signed for 60m in 2013?

.......I doubt that.

2016?

It's cheap.

Dice it up any way you want but West Ham signed a more expensive player that season, while we fucked around with:

Which season?

Rather than being dismissive you could do with being clear in what your counter-argument is.

Vincent Janssen Alkmaar £18.8m; Victor Wanyama Southampton £11m; Georges-Kévin N’Koudou Marseille £9m; Pau Lopez Marseille (loan); Moussa Sissoko Newcastle £30m

Sissoko ............Jesus H Christ

Vic was shit?

Sissoko was cheap?

This debate got very muddled very quickly.

He never acted like it was a great injustice
Call it being overly vocal or disrespectful then. Posting silly instagram posts with a dusty lamborghini, having his national team manager run his mouth off etc.

Players want to leave, that's fine, but of all the players at Spurs who didn't get a proper shot, he's got the least to complain about. He played 60 games for us and scored 7 goals. The second he started to show that he might be worth the transfer fee we paid, he started getting restless about game time.

There would have been enough game time to go around if he knuckled down and continued to show the form of the last few games of last season.

I backed him for nearly two years while others wanted him out, so I'm annoyed about how this has gone down.

Won't be too upset if we get Richarlison or something.

I was 99% joking. Selling Pierre would be madness unless we could get somebody like Rice. PEH has weaknesses but he also has so many strengths and for me I don’t see why many fans criticize him. His work rate and leadership are unquestionable.

That said, Rice in Pierre sold net £30 paid and I would do it. That’s the 1%.

The Absolute GOAT The Absolute GOAT likes to give disagrees to many posters, hope he agrees with himself 😆
Weird post.

I dish out far more ‘likes and agrees’ than ‘disagrees’.

Maybe you just post stuff I disagree with?

Bin vote cast for going off topic and keep my name out of your mouth.

Have a disagree because I disagree.

Players across the World watch the Prem. Much as with us fans, they can see the Utd are a basket case club atm, with a long way to go before they get themselves back up to that elite status they enjoyed for a couple of decades.

The sort of players Utd need will be giving them a wide berth. Those that do go there have one motivation, and that's money.

Until they hit the reset button, they are destined to flounder around with mercenaries turning up when they feel like it.

Same pain as Liverpool incoming..... It's already been 9 years since Fergie.

Not 200k a week awesome, no fricken way. He came in earning the same salary as Kane and almost double what our other top players at the time were earning. Crazy!!
Feel we are all as guilty on that one

Some of the top rated scouts couldn’t believe we got him for 50m and regularly told us he was worth 80m

We had to pay him those 200 big ones to get him to choose spurs …. I lapped it up

He's not the RWB Spurs need and too good to sit on the bench but I will miss him. He appeared to be a likable person, and always enthusiastic when Spurs scored (except when he scored himself), and played solid - to much of the disappointment of some fans - at the end of the season and proved that he is a good defender.
If he join Atletic M I wish him good luck - except if he'd play against Spurs in the CL.

They are a big club, but have a shit team
And a board that is just as bad. They stopped thinking like a Football club and began thinking like a commercial enterprise. It remains to be seen if they carry on in this vein or if the appointment of Ten Hag is the start of their rebuild.

Having said that, their issues go beyond the Football as well. Their stadium is ageing badly and, with the way the World is today, would likely cost them far more than ours did. They're already over £800M in debt, with owners who are milking them rather than reinvesting like ENIC have done with us. They are also in danger of losing their lucrative sponsorship deals as CL slips over the horizon.

They were quite visionary when the Prem started, combined with the good fortune of their stadium build and the class of 92 happening at just the right time, but they've squandered the lot.

As I see it, right now their owners are using them as a cash cow. When they slip enough that the revenues don't provide the dividends they're taking out of the club, they'll likely sell to the highest bidder. There's plenty out there willing to shell out for a club with their status, but their stock and value will continue to dwindle until that happens IMO.

We're already seeing this with Woolwich, I can see Utd languishing as mid table nonentities for a good while yet.

I have no problem with Stevie wanting to leave.

I have a problem with his comments to the media. Keep it shut and you’ll get your move.
I think Stevie had far more right to express his feelings and want a move than Eriksen did and many want him back. Huge double standard. Eriksen was playing and wanted a new fucking challenge and wanted to leave. Stevie scores two of the most important goals v Leicester, without which we don’t make CL and goes right back to injury time cameos….if anyone here can put yourself in his position and say they would accept that then I would say you are lying or stupid. Give him his move and not domestically because he will probably come back and haunt the fuck out of us

It’s incredible to me how a short list of clubs from Portugal and France are a powerhouse of creating top profile footballers.
Porto, Benfica, Lille and shipping a lot of top players to the big clubs
I feel like there's a huge untapped market of estern European players that's ignored by the latin/west focused football in the top leagues.

All the midtable English clubs should be raiding the likes of Slavia Prague or Dinamo Zagreb, or even the lesser teams in those leagues. Do a bit of proper scouting and buy in bulk, 2-5m a pop, ship out the duds for a modest loss/profit. Better than blowing 30m on fucking Daniel James.
