Agree about this 5 subs allowance. Going to become an integral part of a Premier League football match and how the manager/coach uses them. How many times are teams winning and they put on couple of subs the game becomes disjointed and they coast to victory. This is going to give the stronger squads such an advantage.

Yes. But some of us, doubt it, ask questions, shit on it. If it was Chelsea or City, or Liverpool, they would look at it, as standard procedure, why not us????
Probably because we've been burnt several times before. If they deliver this summer i'd say as a fanbase we'll be more willing to believe things have turned going forwards. I'm more optimistic they'll deliver than i have been for years but nothing proven as of yet despite a very promising start.

Fucking bored of the moaners

Deuterz Deuterz gave this a disagree 🤣 Clearlu admitting to be one of the moaners, coz I mentioned no names.

The fact we have £150 million does not mean we will spend all £150 million of that money on players that cost £150 million. Transfers don't work like that with amortisation. Conte could buy 6 players @ £50 million each all payments spread over 5 years. That's £300 million total commitment but only £60 million spent in this year in the books.

What will make you more happy:

1. Conte spends £300 million but is annoyed that he didn't get the players he wanted.
2. Conte spends £80 million, but gets every single one of his targets.

In the past we've spent so much on players that were brought in without a plan. Now we have a coach that knows how he wants to play and the type of player (not x player) he wants for that position.

It shouldn't matter what we spend as long as we spend it on what Conte wants and he has the squad he's happy with to challenge.
Let's not forget that a free transfer doesn't mean that we don't pay out money.
I'm sure Perisic and his agent got a nice little signing on bonus, spread over the length of the contract obviously.

This is why I don't understand the fear from some fans of spending £60m+ on top players who aren't guaranteed to start every game. To be at the top you need 2 quality players in every position.
I think it’s more to do with the club not having a great track record with high cost signings over the last ten years or so. Our top 8 highest cost signings in descending order are: Ndombele, Sanchez, Sissoko, Lo Celso, Bergwijn, Soldado, Requilion, and Lamela. That’s over $300m in signings and while a few of those players are still at the club and it might be too early to pass judgement, they didn’t set the world a light.

I would also say there are only 30-40 players in the world who are valued at +60m so not a big pool of players. I think the club should still look at value over cost. Bisouma will hopefully be an example of that

I didn't criticise our business thus far, I criticised people pre-empting us not spending very much by preparing the 'well we strengthened!' line despite assuring everyone we would spend and making a huge deal of the 150 million being put in to the club. Obviously I don't expect us to have spent all of that yet, but that wasn't the fucking complaint.

Good for you. I highly doubt Conte gets all the players he wants without significant spending.
I highly doubt Conte will get all the players he wants full stop.
The same as every other manager on the planet.

The real question is, will he be happy with what he'll get.

His post was in response to mine .. so a natural assumption.

I got bored of trying to explain that people are backpeddling and being met with 'moaner!! we don't have to spend loads to get good players!!' so I just disagreed with relevant posts.

Sorry if I misunderstood xoxoxo

Yeah, gooners have been trying to blame spending but they're just a complete shambles since they sacked Wenger for "only" winning the FA Cup most years. Spending is pretty much the only thing they've done right, the amount though not what they've spent it on. Kroenke's biggest problem is he's basically just been writing checks for those clowns to set on fire.
To be fair, we've done similar.

Our scouting had (past tense) the worst on the PL.

See Ndombele £60m

I haven't said it does mean that. Like, at all. I've said that people are already preparing excuses for an underwhelming window even though it's only just begun. Said people were extremely smug and claiming we were about to see high levels of spending, but have now switched to 'if we bring in the players Conte wants, who cares?.

It's a ludicrous question because the overwhelming likelihood is that the players Conte wants most aren't all going to be cheap. We don't know who he wants aside from Bastoni (who we understandably can't get) and possibly other links like Lautaro or Pau Torres. They aren't cheap.

Let's see how the window unfolds. I'm not complaining about it at all, just saying that people seem to be preparing already for low spending relative to expectations, and I don't understand why. The likelihood of it all being by Conte's design seems exceptionally low given his own history.

Mate, the bloke you’re arguing with is the very same dude who was waving his cock around and giving it large all over the ENIC thread when news of the £150million was announced!

:avbcringe:

Proper piece of work, this one
