45 million and probably 400,000 a week in wages has to be the worst deal of the summer.Thank god. He is such an overrated player would have been a huge waste of money for us.

You think Rice was better than Fabinho?
I saw teams run rings round Rice (including our not exactly expansive bunch), and that’s even with Wham basically playing a very risk averse bus park 85% of the time. Unlike City and Liverpool.
I really think Rice’s defensive game is over stated, and I’ll be interested to see how he gets on when/if he gets to play with a more expansive/progressive team where he isn’t doing most of his defensive work on the 30 yard line, compressed between a back line and front defensive line.
Rice is nice. Double edged swordRice came up against our lot who were fresh when he'd just played 120 minutes vs Sevilla in which he was everywhere and man of the match. He also was an absolute wall in numerous other big games in the season, including the 3-2 win over Liverpool. Every midfielder will have poor games, especially in teams which aren't dominant.
His defensive game is statistically and visibly excellent, don't know why you'd think otherwise. There's plenty of times for England where players have space to run in to and he's making up the distance and shutting them down.

Down the back of the sofa..
Rice plays for at best an ok team. He doesn’t have the passing range of Fabinho, the style and press resistance of Bissouma or the class of Rodri he is however the smartest midfield I have seen in the league this season.
He nearly always makes the right call, right position, right pass, right run. He has been compared to a young Roy Keane and while he doesn’t have the aggression that is very fair, what he lack in technical he makes up for in brains and that is a rare quality it’s also not an easy thing to say giving praise to a West Ham player.
Looks like Leeds are ....gonna do an anti-Leeds..cash in.Now that Phillips is gone, a team that barely escaped relegation last season, is even weaker and they may end up having a less motivated Raphinha in their team if they demand so much that no team will meet their asking price...and next season Raphinha will have only a year left of his contract. And should Leeds go down his release clause is automatically set to £25m.
It was the Europa League campaign which sealed it for me with Rice. He was sensational in almost every game I saw him in, totally bossed Sevilla, went to France and ate Lyon's midfield alive, even vs Frankfurt he was the best player on the pitch in the first leg.
Very mature, composed player. His passing game & ability to run with the ball improved a lot this season, too.
The only melting I can see is the melting of those throwing their dinner off the table because a handful of posters are raising doubts based on the last 20 years of evidence. You evidently haven't read the last few pages, there's plenty in the early throws of a meltdown.
Jesus is a player for a team that had no strikers yet was barley trusted, he isn’t a bad player but he is a big step down when compared to Richarlison or Raphinha or Kulusevski. He would be an ok bench player for us. This will not take Woolwich any further.

I rated Rice. Until we played the Spammers. Conte gave the guy the freedom of the pitch and he orchestrated nothing. It exposed him for what he is. A very good DM for an average team. Conte seemed to figure out his weakness and played it.Yeh I can hold my hands up with Rice used to think it was just Spam fans going on one but he is such a smart footballer, Rodri, Bissouma, Fabinho etc are better in many ways but if I was to pick a player on football intelligence it would be Rice, he is such a good decision maker, reminds me of Kane in a number 6/8 role.
It's expensive, but we absolutely need an attacking player on a somewhat similar level to the three we have if we're to keep any kind of pace in the league and have a cut at the cup competitions.Nearly 70 million for Raphinha is a lot when we already have Kulusevski in his best position. I get we need depth but that's not a depth signing, that's someone you want to come in and immediately be winning you points.
Would be an exciting transfer .. but almost half the so called war chest (before signing on fees, wages etc) blown on a depth player would be risky.
I think it's the anger he lacks compared to Keane, as he's pretty aggressive in the tackle when I've seen him.Rice plays for at best an ok team. He doesn’t have the passing range of Fabinho, the style and press resistance of Bissouma or the class of Rodri he is however the smartest midfield I have seen in the league this season.

Like I said, don't kid a kidder mate. The only melting I can see is the melting of those throwing their dinner off the table because a handful of posters are raising doubts based on the last 20 years of evidence.
One post with any hint of negativity or caution is met with a dozen or so posts of howling anger or derision.
As someone said earlier, you all need to calm yer tits down
Raphinha, permanent contact Leeds-Woolwich.
The clubs are making progress on the deal. No full agreement yet, but the parties continue to move closer.
At the moment the Gunners are in pole position.
