Transfers Summer 2022 Transfer Thread.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I don't think Lucas is going anywhere. He is happy to be a squad member, is popular in the dressing room, Conte won't mind at all if he hangs around one more year.

My guess is the odds are 80/20 that he stays.

On the other hand if Everton (or many other clubs) say to him 'we really want you for the next 2 or 3 years' ....... odds may change significantly

maybe an opportunity has arisen in terms of gvardiol

maybe its why we have shelved raphinha possibly

yes he is 20 but he is a generational talent
My preference is to go for slightly more reasonable transfers, the probability of success with players over £80m is very low. However, I can't help but get a little excited at the prospect of signing him.

Just a shame that Schlotterbeck went to Dortmund.

In any event there should be movement this week…pre- tour/season fitness assessments starting soon…

We may not get any announcements of signings until Friday 1 July .... which can easily drift into that weekend and following week...... even though we think Everton and Inter may have a deadline of 30 June for FFP reasons.

But be good to get a couple of signings done before Spurs fly to South Korea (likely 8/9 July with first match 13 July)

If it's true about the value of him 80M I'd rather go and get Bremer and Ndicka for roughly the same amount
You can throw in Udogie (at around £15-20m) too and there may still be money left if Leipzig wants £80m for Gvardiol. Ndicka's got only 1 year left of his contract.
Bremer may not wanna join Spurs if he's not guaranteed a starting spot (as he would be competing with Dier and Romero); so Zabarnyi at around £15-20m or may not be a bad option. Or Piero Hincapié at around £30-35m. He can play CCB, LCB, LWB, DM...

Honestly, do not get dissatisfied and disappointed on the alleged missed opportunities you are seeing reported. I am extremely confident the majority will be overly very happy with our further acquisitions.

We are not being bullied by anyone. Where we once was used by clubs and agents to further their agendas, to a point the shoe is firmly sitting on the other foot.

We have possibly not finished with Italy either. As they are throwing all sorts of proposals to us, as they are in essence strapped for liquid cash. I do not want to say too much. Conté is happy, and Fabio is proving himself with Daniel working in his strong area on financials so we don’t get shafted. To make it clearer, deals agreed and then the pay structure etc is negotiated with Daniel and his team.

I expect 2-3 before travelling out on 10th July.

honestly dont know why people fall for it all the time

these are not mutually exclusive views, and you know that. You're just being dishonest.
He has contract until 2026. He’s top prospect in world football. You have to pay that komd of money on future world class defender.
It’s better than spending 80M on two alright defenders.
I can say because I watched him a lot since he debutnin seniour football. These players won’t flop.

Anyone who reads that word salad and thinks that bloke has clue is a sandwich short of a picnic

if we took out 100m

there must be a big signing on the way

would be disappointing if its 60 for rich

Hmm, I feel that those two posts combined kind go give away that you are more into numbers and bling-bling rather then into team improvement.

For fuck sake, it would be batshit crazy to pay 3th highest transfer fee for player that has completed just 1 season in top league.

Literally you are proposing to pay money that would get you guaranteed world class CB... For someone who might be next best thing but could also never cope in EPL. That is plain stupid. With such deal we only would have big downside. If he becomes one of the best CBs of his generation, his value will most likely never exceed this 80mil that you would happily pay - absolute maximum upside would be maybe 20 mil EUR. But if he flops in EPL he will be 25-30 mil player... So downside of 50-55mil EUR.

But hey, everyone can have their own approach. And if in your books Ndombele transfer was fcking awesome (cause you know, big money, much bling) and Bissouma is kind of meeh signing (because you know, just small 25 mil fee) then so be it. I personally prefer go get good players. Not high fees.

Genuine question - seen a bunch of stuff treating Gvardiol like he's a locked on future Ballon D'or winner... where's this come from? A single season in Bundesliga for RB is surely too early to be rating him so ridiculously highly.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love nothing more than for us to nab him and he become all he's being hyped to be.
But crikey, it feels like when this happens, it's a case of a couple Athletic et al writers mentioning said player is really good before it snowballs as everyone tries to get on the bandwagon for the next big thing.
Also, wouldn't Bayern be snapping him up as we speak if his future amazingness was so certain?
Bayern won't be spending 80m to snap him up now. They'd wait until he has a year left on his contract and get him for 25m.

Agree with the rest of the post, though.
