Transfers Summer 2022 Transfer Thread.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

One of those three is not like the others. I really don't think there's anything available to us in the elite spend category. Personally think there's plenty of quality available in the level down from that, not too worried.

Hincapie would need to be a lot better than I've seen to be a difference maker for us this coming year. At 20 he would be a good signing in isolation, but I can't imagine he's what Conte is hoping for at lcb.

Do you think Gvardiol would be worth the 80m investment? You've probably seen him play a good bit more than I have.

Get a grip Steve. 2 free transfers and one generally low fee player doesn't absolve 20 years of outright stingeyness.
Talk of a £150m cash injection isn't even that exciting when other teams not owned by countries can spend that year on year.
Levy isn't suddenly a great chairman that deserves everyone's love and admiration. He's the same old Levy he always has been but now we have Conte, who actually have a massive pair of bollocks and will demand he gets what he wants. And in addition to that, for the first time ever, this really is last chance saloon for Levy. If Conte fucks off there's nowhere left to go.
This is not a man who is finally standing up and being top dog. This is a man with his back to the wall and reacting out of sheer fear.
We've signed two players already that will instantly improve our 1st team, we've signed a good back up keeper, we're being constantly linked with top players that will also improve us, we are definitely going to sign more players.

But I'm the one who's supposed to "get a grip"

Other teams, not backed by oil states, can definitely not spend £150m without selling first.

As I said before "there is nothing to criticise Levy for in this window so far." *

If anyone criticises our signings so far* then they are either deluded or twisted.
You don't have to like levy to say we've done well so far* in this window.

The man who, apparently, doesn't give a fuck about the club, the fans, or trophies, and hasn't done for 20 years, who is only interested in profits, is now afraid ?
What's he going to do, start booing cos some people say nasty things about him on tinterweb ?
Yeah, righto.

I don't give a fuck how much we spend as long as we get players in that actually improve the team.
Unlike some for which net spend is the metric.

Nobody knows. About 70% of eighty-million'ish transfers have been terrible. If he ends up being one of the best defenders in the world, then it's worth it. I'd say no ultimately, even though he looks very good.

I think we'd be mad not to spend €40-50m on one of Ndicka/Lisandro Martinez or maybe Pau Torres. Different players, but I'd think them a guarantee to improve our team, adjust to the league quickly, of a good age and seem competitive/professional.

Pau Torres seems the best realistic option, to me at least. Starts for Spain, few top seasons in La Liga & European football under his belt. Ticks a lot of boxes aside from perhaps the 'will he adapt to the Premier League?' one.

I've not been hugely sold on him, but again a lot of these players we've linked to I've seen at most a handful of times, so can't really pass fair judgement.

The grip part is that none of this suddenly changes who Levy is.
Let's wait until the end of 22/23 and see what has happened before you start calling out Levy haters.
He has earned that hate over the years and he will have to earn the right for less of it.

Mate, there's some on here who are determined to be miserable about everything, and will never change that outlook, no matter what happens.

I've been criticial and pissed off with Levy in the past, but even I can see that things have been changing this summer - getting the likes of Perisic and Bissouma in early doors was brilliant (both signings massively improve our first team, never mind our squad, btw). It's clear we'll get at least a couple more in, who will improve our squad too.

I've just decided to use the ignore feature for some of those posters on here who will never change. It's much easier, and much less likely to result in a cunt off.

Also makes the transfer window thread much more enjoyable to read.

Woolwich did it last window and are on course to do it again in this one with around 80m already spent and bids of around 70m for Raphinha, from sales they've made maybe 10 million. I doubt they're even done there, have a lower revenue than us, and no CL. PL clubs with our kind of revenue are 100% unequivocally capable of spending 150 million without selling. This is the richest league on the planet (by far).

He may have earned that hate over the years, but you can still say that this has been a good transfer window so far *

The two aren't mutually exclusive.

*Note wording.

The three signings we have made so far have pretty much gone under the radar

Forster - most people thought we would sign Sam Johnstone
Perisic - don't think there was much being reported on him.
Bissouma - I know we had been linked to him in the past but there wasn't much build up to it, kinda just came out of the blue.

Bentancur and Kulusevski transfers were similar

This is why I'm thinking the players that hardly get mentioned are the ones we're going after i.e Pau Torres. As mentioned above, he has a lot of plus points, has a gettable release clause and could use Lo Celso as part of the deal.

Or maybe I'm just not in the know on transfers 😆

It's been mentioned in the past that Paratici basically mentions lots of players and then snaps up one no one thought we would go for.

Yeah, I can remember you being totally against and vociferous in your criticism of Levy.

Now, apparently, you're a "Levy tugger"

Saying it's a been a good window so far is like trusting a serial killer who hasn't hacked a girls head off for a few weeks. It's gonna take a lot more over a much longer period before anyone believes there's been an actual change.

They have nothing real to criticise Levy for in this window so far.
So what can they do to continue their biased agenda ?

Have a go at those that are saying that this is a good window so far, which btw, includes those who've previously criticised Levy.

So boring and so predictable.
But they're supposed to be the "happy" ones.

:harrylol::harrylol::harrylol:

Yup they'll go quiet when we sign a new player, notice how the traffic picked up when the transfer activity went quiet for a week ffs, bit like the Levy ENIC thread when we lose, they all come rushing back to spread their miserability all over the forum, absolute cancer.

Anyway Hincapié talk to me

Fair point,

Although, tbf, that backs up my point re net spend.
They've spent all that money and are still shite.

How is this shit show allowed to go on?

Dembele ready to walk away from Barca

Dembele will look elsewhere for his next contract if Barca are not able to come up with the goods by the end of this week.
Barca are not currently able to register new signings Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie either, because of their FFP situation and the salary cap imposed on them by La Liga.
Terms were agreed to sign both players on free agents weeks ago, but Sky Sports News has been told Barca have even approached them again to ask if these can be renegotiated in order to be able to register them ahead of their pre-season return.

Sure, and I'm very happy with our window thus far. Already buzzing to watch Bissouma play for us, have wanted us to sign him for a long time now.

But we definitely shouldn't play down the spending potential we do have. Of course we can't pay City/United wages or fees and we shouldn't just throw the money around as a dick waving contest, but the potential is there if the right players are available.
