3 years left in his contract, and we’re not exactly swimming in club trained/home grown players.

Not saying he needs to stay at all costs, but he’s not even in the top 3 of players who need to be moved first.
This is why he needs to at least go on loan and not take up a squad space for us

Misssed over 40 games with injury - That's Lamela levels of unavailability.

Why would the winners of the Seria A want a CB who finds it hard to get on our bench? perplexing

They probably feel they can do a Tomori job on him. A lot of foreign clubs (especially Bundesliga ones) seem to have a strategy where they feel English teams don't utilize their youth players particularly well, so they pick them up for cheaper and develop them.

We'll be trying to move Reguilon on probably, and loaning out Parrott/Scarlett hopefully.

It'll depend on whether or not Conte wants to use Lo Celso or Gil as a 6th option in attack. Liverpool used seven forwards over all competitions last season, same with City (you wouldn't guess it, but Cole Palmer made 13 first team appearances). Chelsea also used 7.. I really don't know why we should be settling for five and running our players into the ground during a world cup year.

At 33, if he's our first choice LWB, I don't think the idea of Persic playing extra mins in the front three is a great one. Personally think we definitely need a 6th forward, whether that's Gil, Lo Celso or a new signing.
Agree we need another forward or attacking mid. If Kane and Kulu are out who provides that creativity?

I'd be tempted to keep Gil. Offers something different, and looks a bit less lightweight than last year in those training photos. If he's going to make it, now's the time.

Why be dishonest ?

You will definitely be one of those that complain that we didn't spend £150m net, regardless of the quality of players bought in.

Why be dishonest says man who was just proven to have made something up. Incredible stuff, you're really good at this.

And no, I won't. I'll complain if there are still big holes in the squad despite us clearly still having the resources to do more. Obviously that isn't the case now because the window is still in the relatively early days.

So you agree that we have improved the squad ?

And you agree that the amount spent on players means fuck all, and it's the quality of players that count ?

Yes.

No, spending directly correlates with success. Clubs who spend more statistically do better. Obviously you can find bargains, but operating on a smaller budget is far, far harder, and players with higher wages & transfer fees are generally costing more for a reason.

This obviously doesn't equate to every expensive signing being a success, or that we should pay more for mediocre players. But that's not the argument put forward, but you know that, you're just going to pretend I've made that point because it's easier to try and discredit.

We still need top quality CM like Modric, Pirlo, etc. Our midfilders with the ball are not good enough, and not creative enough. Also that give us option to play 3-5-2 as well, which is great.
We also need to have someone in the midfilder that can shot from distance and score goals.

Yea 100%. But unless I misread the tweet was a 12m euro buy clause right?

His injuries have meant we never saw a proper run of games. And while the little string of games he had last year didn’t set the world on fire, and some were downright poor I’d still like to see him go on loan to see what he can do.
My main concern with him is that I still don’t quite know what his actual position is.

Transfer spending doesn't correlate with success. Salaries do. There's an article somewhere with a great analysis about this.

United obviously the exception. :dembelelol:
