I think the similarities stop at being left footed and from Roma, to be honest.
Zaniolo is streets above Lamela in terms of actual footballing ability. Much better on the ball, much better at carrying the ball forward and strikers the ball much better.
If I had to compare Zaniolo to anyone stylistically, it'd be Kaka.
However, I'd probably only take Zaniolo on if it's a loan with obligation to buy like the Kulusevski deal because of those question marks over his fitness/injury history.
I feel like people are against Zaniolo because he's more a dribbler than a creative player and therefore they have this belief that he doesn't solve our 'problems' against the low block teams. But it's usually the dribblers that have the most luck against the low block sides.
You can be as creative as you want but if your opponent is very well drilled, it doesn't matter how good you can pass the ball, the space just isn't going to be there to create and if it is, you're going to have to thread it through the eye of a needle.
