Griezmann gets lots of caps for France. He'd still be a really bad signing for Manchester United. International managers are weird and sometimes have players they feel loyalty to or who they happen to trust to do a very particular job.

Rabiot may well be good but not because he's got caps for France or because he plays a lot for the weakest Juventus team in years.
Once upon a time - in his first spell at Atl. Madrid - Griezman was one of the best forwards in the world, so not sure why you bring him into the "equation" of Sissoko & Rabiot and caps (btw, in France they don't get caps when they play for the national team, so theoretically he's got 0 caps ). He certainly deserved all his caps.
Right now, yes - with him being 31 and in decline - he would most probably be a bad signing for Man Utd. But not necessarily worse than Rabiot or any other of their present targets.

Someone on here said Rabiot fired his mother as his agent back in 2019. Apparently not.
I can't understand how any club, after just one meeting with her, still are interested in signing him...

"Liverpool target Adrien Rabiot has responded to the collapse of his purported move to Barcelona by sacking his agent - who happens to be his mother."

Guess she's back on the case......

One player I have liked who could fill the AM role without costing a fortune is Alexis Mac Allister. I've been impressed with him everytime I've seen him. He plays similar to Eriksen. Picks the ball up from the defence, breaks into the box occasionally. Great feet and passing.

Totally under the radar signing. Should be keeping tabs on him. He should be in the Argie squad ahead of GLC.

Sure, but I'm not talking Griezmann of years ago. The point was simply that caps/appearances whatever don't necessarily say much on their own & are subject to a lot of context. The context in Griezmann's case being that he was once excellent & now barely even gets in the Atletico lineup because he's fallen off so much.

As for Rabiot he's a decent footballer but not sure he's what United need in terms of a shake up, but Ten Haag will know much better what he requires & I assume he approved it. If it comes alongside a De Jong it's fine, if it's instead then they (Utd fans) justifiably won't be pleased.

If Fofana is £75m then Romero is £100m plus but it’s not about worth it’s about one team in Leicester not wanting to sell and Chelsea throwing whatever they have to make it too attractive not to sell.

Fofana is probably a £40-50m player, the extra 20-30m is the honey.
It's like a carbon copy of the Maguire transfer at this point. Would be hilarious if Fofana, err, 'developed' in the same way.

Money is their problem.

- assembled decent squad but financed by owner as Leicester revenue stream not big enough to pay for players
- Wages of squad circa 85% of total revenues = Leicester lose money every day of year.
- Owner's main business is duty free shops in airport, with covid limited flying hence owner struggling for cash, therefore cannot support Leicester as before

Hence club's only way forward is to sell players - but already announced they don't want to sell Maddison and Forfana (their 2 most valuable players). Tielemans was expected to leave as only one year left on contract, but bids have been much lower than Leicester wanted - rumoured that highest bid circa £25m - hence not sold yet.

Leicester pushing 'not for sale' Forfana price to Chelsea up by refusing offers, will Chelsea eventually bid £100m for a player worth £50m to part solve Leicester problems ?

Might explain to some on this board why no serious bid made for Maddison.

I think an additional danger for Leicester City is momentum. Someone posted a list of their players on dwindling contracts somewhere on here and there was a lot of talent going for free in the next couple of years if they aren't sold or renew their contracts.

Rather like the complete inverse of how excited our squad is right now under Conte, you'd think the mood over at Leicester is one of a team that has most definitely peaked and whose best players will almost certainly be getting their agents to put the feelers out for moves elsewhere.

I can't say I've paid a lot of attention to him. How is his overall defensive workrate? Ability to dribble, evade a press?

As per Airfixx Airfixx , players like Eriksen who are a bit lightweight, struggle to play in a two, something I've come to accept.
