Transfers Summer 2022 Transfer Thread.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

This thread seems to have given up on bringing in that last major statement signing of the window.

Pretty unheard of, but probably a good thing
I wouldn't rule it out at all. You can see that clubs need to get rid of certain players and the talk around their pricetags have dropped as the summer has gone on. Personally think we definitely need another chance creator to rotate with Kulusevski at RW and probably a passing midfielder. Wouldn't be surprised to see movement on Zaniolo, Paqueta, Adama Traore or Youri Tielemens. I'd be happy with any of those players. Plus a cb if Tanganga goes.

One of the more obscure footballers linked with a transfer to Spurs is a certain Ruslan Malinovskyi.

The Atalanta midfielder is reportedly on Tottenham’s radar ahead of what would be a £20 million move, with the player’s wife Roksana already following Conte on Instagram.

However, Sky Sports man Lyall Thomas has revealed that the Lilywhites are reluctant to sign the player in a permanent deal, having turned 29 in May, but the Serie A outfit aren’t willing to loan him.

He told Sky Sports: “Atalanta’s Ruslan Malinovskyi is a player Spurs have looked into signing on loan but the Italian club are only willing to sell him permanently due to there being a year left on his contract.

“This does not appeal to Spurs, who are reluctant to commit transfer fees and long-term contracts to players who are over or approaching 30.”

Unfortunately for Tottenham, this one could definitely collapse.

It was reported earlier this week that the Ukrainian powerhouse was interested in a transfer to North London.

But it makes complete sense for Atalanta to refuse a loan arrangement if his contract expires next summer because, well, how do they benefit?

Unless Conte and Paratici break their stance, which seems unlikely because he doesn’t fit their profile of transfer target either, it looks like this one won’t be happening.

Still think the major problem our team had at the end of last season remains. Wingbacks! Persic is a good addition but is limited by age and injury. Spence has not yet been given a chance. Royal is not a good wingback and neither is Sessegnon. Docherty plays more like a right sided midfielder in my humble opinion

Okay this is all becoming a touch tiresome and I am not having a go at you but do want some clarity.

But can you or anyone explain what makes a good wing back, as in what qualities must they possess and demonstrate?

One week to go and a lot going on. Lots of players being linked and a few more that have not made the media. I'd ignore all the "spurs are interested" headlines right now no matter where they are from, as we have put the feelers out for a lot of players. Especially home grown ones, agents, selling clubs, even people at the club are jumping on them and blowing them out of proportion. If FP likes a player, we've enquired, if AC likes a player we've enquired, if they are being put forward by their agent or one of our scouts and we think they are decent we've enquired, etc etc etc. Zaha, enquiry..... Dan James, enquiry..... Ziyech, enquiry.... Madison, enquiry..... I think you get the point, just because we've asked the question re their availability it certainly doesn't mean we are looking to sign them, because AC doesn't actually want any of them. It costs nothing to ask the question, and knowing the situation allows things to change quickly to best fit the jigsaw.

I have a couple of names we are looking at but even then I'm not convinced they'll go anywhere because FP has a lot of names on his list right now and besides the fact we know one of them needs to be Association trained it'll be a case of how the two we want in best fuse together, both in fit (one of the two HG at least) and also cost.

One thing I'm certain of that I can add is that we are not only looking in this country for the HG option, and have definitely had more than just enquiry contact with one player from overseas and this player has not hit the media yet.

As a closing point it's worth remembering we are not looking to sign the players you lot have watched, we will be signing the players that AC/FP have watched and evaluated. They may well be the same person but very different players.

Now try not to get this shut down ffs.”

So, Trix knows fuck all and is wording a rambling essay without revealing fuck all. Utter fraud. How do they keep getting away with it? I honestly don’t think they have got anything correct
Enquiry FC

Again, if we don't offer Traore a contract, someone at Tottenham is fucking stupid.
I wouldn't go as far as stupid, but people are so dumb in how they assess him. Was unreal when that team had a target for crosses in 19/20, Jiminez injury and Jota sale has stalled his output big-time. Traore could be very effective lobbing balls in for Kane, Perisic, Richarlison. Small financial risk for a backup player.

What people here miscalculated about the Chelsea change of ownership is that Abramavic isn't demanding al his money back, the new guy isn't poor and the 20 years of consistent success on the pitch has, despite all the whining on here, made them a big, wealthy club.

As much as you all hate that, I thank them for starting the rot at Man United.
I prefer United to those Johnny come lately chav bitches.

OK fair question. Best way to explain is by rival examples. Chelsea have James and Chilwell. Liverpool have Arnold and Robertson. City have Walker and Cucurella and Cancelo. All these players are better than Sess, Reggie, Doherty and Royal. Spence we can't judge because he is not being played. The only wingback we have who is comparable to our direct rivals is Persic - who is not always fit.

Your comment on 'some old dog to take up a foreign slot and burn wages' could have been used against Perisic as well - buc he's a great addition. Our question is actually which of the forwards we can get fit Contes system best, is available and at an affordable price. If that is the Ukrainian guy so be it (and plenty of debate on his abilities last night on previous pages suggesting he has a lot of pluses going for him), if we can find a better fit, even better.
Highly coveted serial winner played for some of the best teams in European football

It clearly couldn’t have been used against perisic

Cobblers.

1.6bn debt isn't a sustainably built business.

As much as you all hate that, I thank them for starting the rot at Man United.

United > Sportswashing, gangsters, racism & antisemitism

Why can't we?

If Perisic gets hurt then Sessegnon will play.
Playing as a WB every three days at that level is going to cause fatigue.

What if Sess gets injured and we have to play Perisic twice weekly?

We're not playing with an AMF so then our WBs are essential.

What's needed are one or two versatile players IE Ben Davies that can shuffle about into other positions and be able to do an adequate job.

As I said before, another option if we get a LWB injury is in some games to play 433, with Emerson and Davies as FullBacks.

Maybe I'm worrying about nothing, It's just that I saw Perisic limping off against Wolves, and Sess is somewhat injury prone.
