Zouma was fantastic pre-cruciate injury. Regarded as one of the best young centre backs in Europe when they signed him and then performed that particular season like one of the best young centre backs on the planet, especially when you consider the shit that was going on round him. Slightly older than Fofana was but performing on a much bigger stage so to speak.
Fofana is good. He had a good debut season. 2 seasons ago. But if his norm is what I've seen of him so far this season with Leicester, then he's got a long road to get to before he's at that level again. We've seen how knee injuries can ruin a centre backs career.
Signing Fofana, after a career threatening injury, for a world record fee is quite frankly embarrassing and laughable.
I'm all for going for your targets. Everyone thought Liverpool overpaid for van Dijk at the time and of course it came to show they didn't. But it's quite obvious Chelsea missed out on Kounde so they went and got what was likely their second choice in Fofana instead and Fofana isn't on Kounde's level.

No, we don't. We can change shape without having an attacking midfielder. And given how few times we will need to change our shape, do you think we will spend any serious money on this position? Meaning, what's the point? If you will play this shape half the time, then you go all out for a quality CAM. If you're only playing it 5-10% of the time, rather than get a random player, you get a quality front 3 player and you play Kane or Deki deeper.
Spurs open discussions with QPR by asking them to pop their head out the window and check if Peter Odemwingie is still in their car park.
