Just curious to hear opinions as to how Skipp's potential return may be affecting the decision (so far) not to make any moves. Where does he fit in once he's back at full strength? It's a cliche, but getting an injured player back is a player add just as much as signing someone.

I think some people forget the high quality players we bought in the winter. They’ve shown they are afraid to spend to improve the squad in the middle of the season. So if we are done now doesnt mean we are done till next summer

Other than Perisic I'm not at all convinced by our WBs, and in a system that's totally reliant on them that's a big problem.

Spence may be brilliant, who knows, but he'll probably be mostly left to rot this season unless there are injuries.

Hope Gil gets game time and proves us wrong for trying to ship him out.

Little bit disappointed we haven't signed any of the lower league youngsters we have been linked with Ronnie Edwards, Alex Scott, Ashley Phillips...

As well as having seen often linked Keane Lewis Potter sign for Brentford for a reasonable fee (and Damsgaard for that matter, despite obvs not being HG).

In the absence of any further major signings to augment the squad, a few of these signings to pad the squad for cups/injuries and bulk out our future HG prospects would have been nice.

You can say we have the likes of Devine and Gil for that, but with the youngsters it seems a better approach for me to overload on them as so many who show early promise fall by the wayside, as a pure numbers game (for relatively little cost compared to ready made 1st team signings) there is more chance of something sticking when you chuck a bunch of shit at the wall as opposed to a smattering...

Plus the lower league signings at 18/19/20 have had a bit of first team experience in a real make or break environment, unlike our academy players who have simply played youth games, or go out on loan and know that come the end of that they will be back in the luxury of Hotspur Way.

He's part of the group of 4 CMs and I think that'll be enough. Plus Sarr as a backup. (Sarr is bound to get loaned out in January)
I would've liked a new AM that is able to drop back into CM if needed, and good enough to play wide too. Someone like Eriksen.

I don't think we ever wanted to ship him out, it was Gil that wanted to go on loan because he was concerned about playing time. If we really wanted him out he'd be out.

We were never going to get all of Conte's targets in one window or improve every possible starting position in one window either.

It took Liverpool 6 transfer windows under Klopp to complete the team that won everything. It took him 4 transfer windows to complete his attack. 5 to complete his defence and 6 to complete that team.

We've had 2 windows under Conte. We've improved our attacking depth with Kulusevski and Richarlison. We've improved our defence with Perisic, permanent signing of Romero and hopefully Spence can become a star. We've improved our midfield with Bentancur and Bissouma coming in.

Can we still improve? Of course. But hopefully we can get what we need over the next few windows and become a real force.

Issue is we didn't really. We need one more rwb, and one more creative mid or winger.

We got a lot done. But this squad still has holes in it. And that's not even discussing title challenge levels.

We've done well but let's not pretend this was an exceptional window. This is what's the average ask for a true top 4 side, basically every window. It's our first since 2016 we've shown that ambition..

but hang on,

1, we bought a RWB and now we have 3 of them. much as would have loved to spend 70M on Hakami he was never coming and we prob couldn't get rid of Emerson or Royal.

2. We were never gonna buy a creative mid, Conte doesn't play like that. a winger, yeah, maybe but who? they'd need to be (a) better than Lucas and (b) willing to rotate, (c) not cost an insane amount of money - because it's a squad dept position, Kulusevski has that position sewn up.
