Wait a minute, so the £45 Million for Romaro comes out of the £150 million transfer fund?

Assuming we pay cash now for the transfer (which is logical) , it has to come from somewhere !

Good news is that cash is fungible - so next summer's transfers are just as likely to be paid out of CL receipts/commercial income/match day receipts/non football events/tv money as the last bit of the £150m cash injection (ie its academic if Romero fee comes out of £150m or anywhere else).

Not sure how true this is but as lots are preoccupied with how much we have spent I thought I’d share this.

Soon we will have to deal with pretty much only PL clubs for selling players. Nobody else is going to be able to afford the fees or wages.

We (as a league) have been obscene this window to be honest. Chelsea gets pelters, as does United (who are uniquely hilarious in how they've been bent over a barrel twice), but plenty of midtable clubs have been spunking dosh like we've never seen before. Staggering considering the financial hits from covid weren't even that long ago. Then you've got Newcastle entering the fray...

(Oh, and if you want to fall more out of love with football just juxtapose that with how fucked everyday people are going to be this winter)

Spurs have actually managed to avoid paying anything obscene for our targets. Prying Richarlison from Everton was always going to be pricey, but the rest have been fees more in line with previous windows.

Just watched the Man U - Leicester game there and while I know I’ll sound like a broken record, really think Madison should have been a player we should have gone for, especially considering his 60m price tag which seems well worth it. Would be a good alternative option for one of our midfielders or swapping out Son/Kulu late in the game and can score a FK aswell. Might be a good January signing, especially if Leicester keep up this form

Yea but it just means the transfer war-chest is really £42 million short of £150 million because that money was already allocated for Romaro's contract.

The money could be used for any transfer fees - nobody ever said it couldn't be used to sign players on loan !

NB I guess we also had a little bit of cash available from matchday income/commercial income/tv money from 2021;22 season so Romero's fee could have come rom that.

That's the fun we can have when we talk about cash being fungible !
