Consecutive 17th place finishes doesn't indicate challengers.

That's how ambitious footballers will feel.

We need to understand we are unable to get the best players in the world in their prime.

Turning our nose up at the likes of James Trafford is silly. A great keeper, who could be the new Lloris.

We're not going to be able to get Allison or Oblak.

That’s why it looks so stupid when fans say

‘wHaT dID POcH oR rEDKnaPP wIN’.

They made us competitive so elite players would want join us, I mean we still had grift for a good few seasons after Poch. We have to be higher in the table and playing well consistently. Finishing just above relegation and hoping for a cup isn’t going to pull in top players. They want a good wage and also a good well run team to play in.

And as a fan, I actually looked forward to watching those teams play. Been a while!!

Tottenham are therefore expected to bring in a new forward this summer, and according to Sports Boom, ‘revolutionary’ Japanese international Keisuke Goto is firmly on their radar.

The 20-year-old is currently on loan from Anderlecht with Belgian first-tier side Sint-Truiden, where he has notched 12 goals and four assists in 25 games so far.

The 6ft2in ‘towering forward’ is also being watched by Newcastle, Chelsea and Brighton, per the report, but is at the ‘top of Tottenham’s summer shortlist’ as they look to bring in a ‘versatile striker with a high work rate’.

With Goto’s contract with Anderlecht running until 2028, they are expected to demand up to €20million (£17.5m / £23.5m) for his signature – a bargain for a striker in today’s market, if he proves to be successful.

There is also interest in Goto from Germany, with Eintracht Frankfurt and Stuttgart said to be ‘monitoring the situation.’

Anderlecht insist they have received no offers for the striker yet, but interestingly, the report adds that his agents have ‘held preliminary talks in London.’

Another prospect.

We signed Odobert, a 19 year old, for 25m and he's scored 1 PL goal and got 2 assists in 40 appearances.

Bournemouth signed Rayan, a 19 year old, for 25m and he's scored 2 PL goals in 3 appearances.

Says everything about Lange's talent ID tbh.

I think Odobert's got potential but fuck me, we needed a proper attacker that window.

Tbf I heard we went for Rayan but he wanted to go Bournemouth, as he thought he'd get more opportunities. Obviously never watched us play.

Always worth repeating when players like Goto get linked/signed. We ABSOLUTELY should be buying young players with high potential. It’s a key part of how a top club should be operating. Otherwise you end up having to spend 40-70mil on Brighton stars or Barca rejects in every position.

BUT they need to be accompanied by signing top tier established quality (60-100mil). As well as youth through the ranks. Sadly our scouts and management are just absolutely shit at getting the balance right/ splashing the cash for the big lads.

So, if we sign Goto, I fully hope he kicks on and becomes a star. Good luck to him. If he doesn’t then it should be no biggie - onto the next one.
