A letter to our supporters from Non-Executive Chairman, Peter Charrington.

Dear Supporters,

On Sunday, despite a season that gave you so little, you gave everything. A full stadium, full voice, full belief, until the final whistle. I have thought carefully about how to begin this letter, and in the end that moment said it better than I can. It is why we owe you honesty about where we have fallen short, and what we are committed to now.

Last September, we recognised that something seismic had to change at Spurs. The Lewis family stepped in and authorised a full reset. That decision was not taken lightly, and it came later than it should have. But what has been put in motion is real, and it marks a genuine break from what had come before.

As part of that process, we discovered some uncomfortable truths. The qualities that make Spurs distinct, our football, our ambition, the connection between the team and its supporters, had been allowed to fade. Football success had not been driving our decisions. We did not have the right expertise in key roles. We did not build squads good enough to compete in the most demanding league in the world. Two 17th place finishes in a row is not acceptable, and we will not dress it up as anything other than falling well short of what this Club expects.

Since September, we have restructured leadership across the Club, with a refreshed executive and football structure. Most of this team are already in post and others will arrive in the coming weeks. The Board are committed to this leadership group and will give them the stability and support they need to run this Club in the right way.

Roberto De Zerbi is signed as Men's Head Coach for five years, a reflection of our belief in his ability and our commitment to build back to where we need to be. He is passionate, committed and positive in everything he does, and represents the kind of football and ambition that Tottenham Hotspur should stand for.

Our commitments to you are clear:

• We will build a squad, led by Roberto as Head Coach, with the right blend of experience, youth and leadership to compete at the highest levels of Premier League and European football.

• We will invest across multiple transfer windows to rebuild, balance and strengthen, with this summer representing an important first step in that work.

• We will continue to modernise our football operation, with a significant focus on raising standards across medical and performance.

• We will increase investment in the Academy to ensure that the pathway from youth football to the first team is one of the strongest in the country.

• We will build on a strong season for Spurs Women by continuing to invest in a world-class women's team, led by Martin Ho.

Since becoming Chairman, I have realised that Spurs fans are built differently. I have seen it over and over again in the last nine months, across every generation, in every conversation. Even in the darkest of seasons, you showed up and carried this team. That loyalty is not something we take for granted. It is something we are determined to be worthy of.

There has been speculation about ownership and the future direction of the Club. Let us be direct. Tottenham Hotspur is not for sale. The Lewis family are wholly committed to this Club and to this rebuild. They will provide the stability and investment needed at every level to move us forward, and they see that as a long-term responsibility, not a short-term fix.

This season fell well short of what Tottenham Hotspur demands. We must be in the fight with the best teams in this league, every season, and we are rebuilding this Club with that standard in mind.

This Club lives in the hearts of everyone who has ever loved it. It has been carried through living rooms and stands, weekends and long journeys home.

We will get back to where we belong.

Peter Charrington

Edit. Found the statement. 👍
Good words, and probably the first honest, thing I have heard from the club in years

Levy was a slimy lying two faced cunt that played fans off each other.

Let's see what the future brings.

I said before, I am willing to give em a chance.

Not only Savinho but Senesi and Robertson are two names we have been linked with pre De Zerbi.

I don't really expect De Zerbi to have full reigns but it's all a bit samey samey to me so far.
I don’t think any manager is gonna turn down a deal for Senesi on a free. He’s been one of the best CBs in the league this year and his passing skills suit De Zerbi’s vision of football perfectly.

Most managers will be full of respect for a player like Robertson too. I don’t really see a problem with either.

Isn't it a bit odd that we're already seemingly lining up deals when we're meant to be hiring a new DoF anyway?

What if the new guy thinks Robertson is a shitcunt?
You think the new guy just turns up on his first day without having any prior talks with the club about transfer targets?

Cmon guys whoever it is (looking like this kehl fella) will of had meetings with the club about who they would like to bring in, who the club already have their eyes on etc.

Savinho and Robertson would be such bog standard Tottenham transfer window fodder of the last 10 years. Just shuffling things around with no real difference. Senesi is obviously an excellent free transfer. Early days though but we really need some difference makers from somewhere.

Lets say there is a Brazilian Winger in his first PL season scored 2 goals & assisted 12 over 2500 minutes . Will you say he had a bad season or great season?

Savinho has these numbers , only its across 2 PL seasons…

Btw, last time Sancho had a season with 10 assists in 1 season was 5 yrs ago in Bundesliga. So Savinho isnt anywhere near Sancho comparison
Is he? Sancho seems to be a poor professional, who has let his career drift. Never heard anything like that about Savinho. Pep’s always been complimentary about him.

The main thing is he rarely gets to play his preferred position of LW because of Doku’s primacy. His output needs to improve but there’s no doubt he is a superb dribbler.

Here’s the thing for me with Savinho, we are still short of the output from Kane, Son, and Kulusevski. Thats the level of attacking talent this club should have.

Savinho has had 2 seasons to show that he’s that level and he’s not shown it. Hes shown that he’d be another ENIC punt.

Nonsense.
2 goals 12 assist in 2500 minutes of PL football is not a punt.

It just says man deserves more game time

Wingers primary responsibility is to feed the strikers. Wingers will score when they are trusted & given opportunities.

No winger is going to set the world alight with 800 minutes across 38 games

They aren’t really winger anymore though. Most of the time they are wide forwards that score by cutting in from the wing or arriving at the back post.

Either that or they are #10’s that play wide and drift into the middle to create stuff.

True wingers are pretty rare…

We need to make a statement signing imo, like Woolwich did with Rice. Someone who could be one of the best in the league in their positions. Anderson, Wharton, MGW. Someone like that. This is the level we should aspire to .

A bit like when we nearly signed Semedo but this time actually sign the player.

We can not spend a large chunk of our transfer budget on Savinho, who does not appear to be a big difference maker regarding scoring goals. We have many positions to fill, wingers and strikers are top of the list, but we need players who score and assist on a regular basis.

Does it tell you he’s going to replace the production of Kane and Son?

Is there anything about Savinho that tells you he’s an elite attacking player like Kane and Son?

Because that’s what ENIC have sold from under the fans and not replaced?

You want to replace Kane & Son ??? ready 100million and then we will talk about 100m players....

You dont have us spending 100m ? Then thats not a justification against Savinho

Simple : Judge Savinho for the minutes he played in PL football.... stop judging him on some x player we had . Absolutely pointless exercise

Yes, I want us to buy 100m players. I’ve had enough of 60m punts that get injured and aren’t consistent.

And judging Savinho on his production levels as an attacking player, he’s shown nothing to suggest he will become a 100m player either.
