I wonder what sort of fee they would want for him?

The headline was "£70m rated" but I cant imagine with a year on his deal thats the actual price, even at Brighton

Don't get this. Are we loaning out Vuskovic again?

Must be

Basically 1 game a week, VDV/Van Hecke and Senesi/Danso as senior defenders is more than enough

Fully assume it means Romero is off

No point having Vuskovic back if thats our depth for the number of games we have

I did wonder if we might sell Romero, get Vuskovic back, and use the £50m or whatever Romero brings elsewhere, but apparently not

I think scoring goals is a knack that you either have or dont. Like has been said Jackson has good qualities but as a centre forward he needs to put the ball in the net on a regular basis. Especially for a team like ours where we dont have any attackers that are clinical in front of goal.

He is a bit like Brennan Johnson in the sense that you literally have to put the ball on a plate for him to score a goal

I remember reading about Brentford scouting Mbeumo almost purely on the number of chances he had more than the goals he scored.

The logic is that the most important instinct is the ability to sniff out chances because football is random and it’s harder to teach that kind of pattern recognition. Finishing can be worked on and improved. There’s been plenty of precedents to prove that too. Kane wasn’t really that prolific until he was…

Jackson has always been able to get himself into positions to score and tbh, the experience he has at 23 years old is pretty unique as well. I might have just talked myself into putting him above Osimhen for my striker priority list tbh

Ornsteins piece :vinai:

Tottenham Hotspur have made an offer to sign defender Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The proposal for the 25-year-old fell short of Brighton’s valuation, but talks continue.
Van Hecke is close to Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi from their time working together at Brighton from 2022 to 2024.

In April, Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler said he expected to talk to Van Hecke about his future, with the Dutchman’s contract expiring in June 2027. The Athletic reported earlier this week that Van Hecke had so far shown no interest in extending his deal and was one of three Brighton players, alongside compatriot Bart Verbruggen and midfielder Carlos Baleba, that are candidates for a big sale this summer.

Van Hecke has been named in the Netherlands squad for the 2026 World Cup and played 87 minutes of Wednesday’s 1-0 friendly defeat by Algeria in Rotterdam. He has been capped 11 times by his country.

The centre-back first joined Brighton in 2020 from Dutch side NAC Breda and has had loan spells at Heerenveen and Blackburn Rovers before beginning to establish himself in the Brighton first team in the 2022-23 season. He has made 131 appearances for Brighton, with 106 of those coming in the Premier League.

Last season, Van Hecke was a mainstay in Fabian Hurzeler’s back four, starting 36 Premier League games and missing only two due to injury.

In addition to Spurs’ pursuit of Van Hecke, the club are set to sign Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi on a four-year deal. The 29-year-old’s contract at the south-coast club is due to expire this summer, and he is now expected to complete a move to north London.

Its not very long :franklol:

What is the point in talking about Anderson. He's blatantly going to Man City - why on earth would he choose us over them.
Because Man City have those charges hanging over them that will be settled this summer.

Loads of rumours that the Prem are going to make an example of them. When you see Pep leaving a year early and then look at how determined the premier league and PGMOL were for the scum to win this year, it does kinda point to something seismic happening at City.

My kingdom for a striker.

Pray I Hope GIF

Find this strange. That’s a lot of centre backs if Senesi comes in too. Dragusin, Romero out I suspect. Vuskovic back out on loan or we may sell Danso as a surprise, he’s not really a DZ centre back.
I think that DZ sees value in Danso because he is the perfect CB to throw on when we just needs to defend.

He also has a unique ability in our team with whatever magnet he has implanted in his head that allows him to win every header. Something all of our other CBs bar the outgoing Romero struggle with.

While we're at it then, let's go for Yamal.

 :nunothumb:

I remain extremely unconvinced that anything that drastic is going to happen to City (though it should)

Im going early but F*ck it.

Id be very happy to start the season with....

--------------Kinsky--------------
Porro--Hecke--VDV----Udogie
----------Baleba--Scott---------
-Kang------Mads--------Savio
-------------Jackson------------

No Europe and RDZ in charge that team from where we are would represent and great turn around IMO.

Of coarse people will always want more and better but Rome wasn't built in a day and I think that team gets top 4. Also have a pretty decent bench too.

Silly season is upon us!

Yeah Jackson has good movement and is able to find space to run into.

He will be 25 in a few weeks time. Still a good age and might be hitting his peak years. If RDZ wants him then let's do it

You do realize you’re basically asking for the same type of transfer window everyone, including you, said was completely unrealistic.

If our window ended up with the team you put there, that would be a window from the club that could convince me they are serious about doing things differently

Suspect it’s Romero and Dragusin off. De Zerbi also uses a back 3 a lot or did at Marseilles but it’s hard to use a back 3 in an attacking/controlling style without elite passing CB’s who can play like midfielders similar to how we did a few times with Poch.
