It's absolutely not and he's better than every player mentioned, but whatever.

We're on a path to sell him for half of his value to Bayern or Barca here.

I really just cannot make heads or tails of what the strategy is for the squad.

Van Hecke is a good player in prime age, so it's not like he makes the squad worse, but spending that kind of money for a player you don't need has massive downstream consequences.
The strategy seems to be to get defenders who are good on the ball which is why we got Senesi and bid for Van Hecke.

Romero plays on his side and is probably gone so they want to replace Romero's on the ball ability and progressive passing with Van Hecke. Vuskovic will probably be loaned out.

Maguire is a very good CB and I would absolutely take him at Spurs.
No he's not. We don't need him. He has become overrated again the last few months plus he's the last defender RDZ wants.

Also this Maguire stuff is tiresome. Its the same cycle.....

Great season for Leciester and breaks on the scene for England. Top defender in a low block. Underrated.

Signs for Man United for 80m. Good season. Brilliant for England in Euros. Van Dijk comparisons. Becomes overrated.

He plays a few bad games the next season. People want him dropped for England. United fans want him sold. ETH drops him. Gets way too much forced critisism. Becomes totally underrated.

He fights through the bad spell. Ends up having a few good games. People recognise how underrated he is. People want him in the England squad again. People argue he's man united's best centre back. He becomes overrated again.

Even under Poch we were never in for absolute.top price bracket players like diomande so absolutely no chance now.
In 2-3 seasons we could be back at the level where players like that might want to join.

I’m told that if Spurs are unable to secure their desired fee for Cristian Romero this summer, the club would be very open to exploring what would effectively be a ‘part-exchange’ arrangement, provided the interested club can offer a player who fits Tottenham’s recruitment criteria.Such a structure could, in theory, widen the pool of potential suitors for Romero, with Spurs prepared to consider player-plus-cash proposals rather than insisting on a straight cash sale. Spurs mean business this window!

Swap him for Ferran Torres who has one year left on his Barca contract

One of the things I read/saw this morning RE van Hecke (and Senesi) was that their ball playing is so good - it takes the pressure off of getting that playmaker in midfield, allows us to maybe get a couple of all-rounders in there instead
We'll probably need to based on the squad building the defenders we'll likely have start of the season won't be good in the air so we'll need midfielders who can make up for that which is why I want to keep Palhinha partly.

Lack of aerial ability at the back is a worry I don't think we have enough players who can head the ball.

It might be an issue, but on balance I am very happy with having ballers in there (and the team in general)

Even if the cost is getting bullied in the air a bit

Do we know which top clubs even want Romero? Atletico were the only club who really pushed for him and apart from Alvarez ( who's never joining us), I don't really see who we take from them.

Torres would be brilliant if barca were interested. It could potentially open the door to Barcola or Ramos if PSG are interested.

Athletico are the only one thats been a solid link

And when they sell that striker to Barca theyll have the money

If we have a big window across the board and it involves a lot of technical players like Van Hecke, Senesi and Savinho then clearly it’s full backing of De Zerbi and passing attacking football which I am all for.

Time to re-ignite our prior interest in Antonio Nusa, one to watch at the world cup.

Vlahovic leaving Juve on a free, Haven't seen any links to him going anywhere.

Joshua Zirkzee is a player I liked the look of before he went to Man utd, possible cheap option at a good age.

They'll want him if a deal can get done regardless, his stock will go sky high after the WC as well IMO
