Transfers Summer 2026 Transfer Thread

I can’t understand why posters are so down on the Senesi signing because he’s a free agent.
If he had two years left on his contract and we paid £50m, people would be pointing at his statistics, jumping up and down for joy, and claiming it was a coup.
Getting the right player for the manager is the only thing that counts. The more of those players we get then the better. If getting a quality, ball-playing CB for ‘free’ let’s us spend more on a CM that RDZ wants — maybe our first or second option rather than third or fourth — then I’m super-happy.

100%.

We will see who else comes in but no words or signs of agitation from De Zerbi thus far, and remember the window hasn't even officially opened.

Posters/fans need to live in the real world, although there are quite a number who live in their own Twilight Zone. @ The Preacher is not in that number by the way.

I think there will be at least 5 or 6 more coming into the club and a fair number who depart.

Then at the end of what I believe will be a fruitful window, we should sack Ventkatesham and Lange. No getting away with their incompetence, and no sense of it being able to be forgotten and onto business as usual.

I thought over the closing period of the season Danso was outstanding and at least remained on the pitch.

Romero is history, and I don't think long term will be missed.

Vuskovic was named on the Bundesliga team of the season. He has little to prove in mixing it a the top level.
It's weird how people think, seriously scary.

As I've said before, I completely understand why our board continuously thinks they can shaft us.

Most normal clubs would do what we are doing. Just look at what Woolwich did with Saliba. He had 3 loans before he was deemed ready to play in the PL.

Perfectly understandable that we prefer to replace Romero with a proven PL player instead of a prospect. Vuskovic is 19 and he’s played one great season at a small team in a weak league.

Most clubs would want him to repeat the trick at a higher level before they entrust their PL season to him. If we keep him and it turns out he isn’t ready then we’ve wasted another season.
That's an awful example being that Arteta already came out saying he made a mistake loaning him out and he was ready to play for them earlier then he did.

Hes had a lot of instability throughout his career and seems the type mentally for that to affect him.

I think someone like de zerbi gets the best out of him, and his best is a top top player, espescially in a front foot attacking side. I understand he would be a big gamble though.
Man u and fans were questioning who was better him or mbappe. The instability happened around his 7th season. He has purple patches when contracts are being negotiated

Lol what, he hit 17 league goals twice as a wide player and had multiple other double fixtures for goals seasons while managing a handful of assists. That’s very good for a PL wide player.

He then contributed to 8 CL goals last season and scored or assisted 15 league goals as an impact player for them ..

Rashford produces.
For most of man u he was meant to be their version of mbappe rather than a hug the line wide player. With the lack of work off the ball he was expected to score more

I mean we could and we should.
What do you actually want?
You're going on as if this shit is Football manager (oh yeah well next season we will just sell Danso and Vuskovic will take his spot)

Where is the genuine pathway for him when we will have brought in Van Hecke (in your oddball scenario). Do you think the biggest teenage talent in the world is going to come back to play second fiddle with occasional cup appearances, wtf.

We are in a transitional period now in which the fans will accept pretty much anything as long as we are playing decent football . If he can't be trusted now then we might as well cash in if we are going to be offered 70m.

The reality is he needs trusted now with the ever reliable Danso as his back up.

Thats what i'm thinking. If someone comes in with a bid for 70/80 million you can't turn that down

Absolutely right.

It would be an astonishing figure, and only those people who live in their own fantasy land would disniss it. Better if we also stuck on a sell-on percentage if Vuskovic were sold for a profit

I very much doubt that any team would take such a punt on someone so young, but that kind of sum would be the kind to make most teams 'deal.'

If we give him a new contract with bigger wages and a PL loan that would be ok for next season but after that it’s a use him or lose him situation.

As Ally Gold said his ceiling is higher than Van Hecke, he was the best defender in the German league last season at just 19 year old which is fucking nuts. That isn’t normal at all.

I can see selling him to fund a huge buy like Bruno from Newcastle or Wharton for £100m but it would need to be an offer we can’t turn down not a £50-60m deal but a proper £100m type deal. Selling for £50m and a few years time he is in the world XI which isn’t totally unrealistic if he goes to Bayern or Real Madrid considering he is already in the German league XI and we will look dumb. I’d much rather be a club that can utilise an elite young talent that sell it.

This makes absolutely zero sense. Why would you trust either with another window only to sack them after it's done.

Right and if he's not ready (which I don't believe will be the case) then we play Danso, the guy you said you trusted completely right??

I like Danso, he’s solid but if Vuskovic isn’t ready then one RCB definitely isn’t enough. We’ve seen that at this club with painful consequences for 2 years maybe 3 tbh
I mean it's not rocket science. Our defensive options are good, our midfield and attacking options are turbo shit.

I guess it’s all dependent on what they are planning to do with the attacking unit.

IMO it also depends on who they can get. But if they don’t adequately replace Romero and there aren’t elite options available in the attack then they’ve just weakened our only strong area

If you asked me what’s most likely I’d say Savinho and maybe a CF if Richy goes is as much as I believe they’ll actually get done
We are also owned by a board that continuously lie to us. I can guarantee you that if we bring in Van Hecke for 50m it will be at the expense of a player or 2 from another position In terms of the required quality. We will settle for the 3rd option and we've done that our whole fucking existence.

I don’t even trust them to get the other players we need regardless of Van Hecke

This makes absolutely zero sense. Why would you trust either with another window only to sack them after it's done.

Because they don't look like they are getting sacked anytime soon, and if they were dismissed right now it would throw our transfer plans into chaos.

It's not about trusting either - I don't. It's about practicality.

I suspect they are now working under some degree of direction from De Zerbi and with a line from the Lewis family about doung everything (within reason), to get the team ready for next season in a way it objectively hasn't been for a few years.

For most of man u he was meant to be their version of mbappe rather than a hug the line wide player. With the lack of work off the ball he was expected to score more

Yeah probably, he didn’t fulfil that potential. But his returns as a wide player are better than literally 95% + of wide players in his better seasons. At Barca he is in the absolute top percentile for returns. We have Mathys Tel who gets like 3 goal returns and two of them are deflected goals and we’re saying it’s a risk to sign a guy who slams in worldy free kicks in an el clasico.

Rashford isn’t top tier but he’d be our star attacker and it isn’t close. That doesn’t necessarily mean we should do it because his wage demands and the overall direction RDZ wants us in are a priority, but it’s definitely not because Rashford doesn’t score or assist enough.

This being said - he rocked up at Villa, wasn’t overly productive but was extremely good & loved by fans who badly wanted him back. So if there’s an opportunity there, then..
