Postecoglou added about Kane: “He’s with the club at the moment. He’s a legend of the football club already. If he retired today they’d still probably build a statue for him. He’s a fantastic guy, a fantastic professional, but with everything in life, there are always uncertainties there.

“I don’t try to predict. You always have contingencies in your head, not just about Harry but about any player, because, knock on wood, someone could get injured on the eve of the season and you’ve got to be ready as a manager for all possibilities.

“It’s one of the attractions of the role I guess, to be able to work with people like Harry and Sonny and the guys who are already premier footballers in their own right but also for the club. Hopefully, I get to work with Harry a lot longer.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The fact that Bayern are seemingly not pursuing any other alternatives suggests that they are confident that a deal for Kane can be agreed.

It now simply appears o be a case of the German club making the sort of offer that Levy would deem acceptable.

I would not be surprised if we see a repeat of the Bale saga, with Spurs first bringing in several new signings before announcing Kane’s sale.

The "in-house" is Richarlison. The 2nd player is someone to backup/compete with Richarlison. Needs to be someone good, not just someone with promise or we might find ourself with another Soldado shit show on our hands.
It's such a tough situation, but I wonder if the best option isn't an out-and-out winger that's full of goals. Someone Raheem Sterling-like.

Then it's really Richarlison and Son who are co-replacements for Kane, with the new player not forced to be a like-for-like (which just seems like an inevitable unavoidable catastrophe any way you slice it) but still adding goals and supplying new attacking thrust in Kane's absence.

Combined with Maddison who chips in new creativity and is a massive upgrade on Kane from attacking free kicks and we're starting to get there.

63 goal is built around the pure negligence of this club not investing in decent CB’s. Kane or no Kane this club will have a completely failed transfer window without 2 good CB’s coming in:

I think the midfield had a lot to do with leaking that many goals as well, but the biggest culprits were indeed the CB's.

As a team we defended poorly for much of last season.

Truth is we have never come close to replacing Verts or Toby, with Romero just about as good as either on his best day.

Anyone that can control a ball and stay onside would do. 80m for Kane and 15m for pigeon and you have a decent pot. I assume we have included funds to replace him in our financial forecast so perhaps we bang down 150M for Osihmen

Fuck off PEH for 20M and promote Sarr and that’s 115M.
What a way to talk about PEH, he’s made more effort than most of our team. You should be ashamed of yourself insulting him in that manner just to try and act big.

If HK refuses to sign a contract and someone abroad offers 90m£ or more then think Levy will sell. Like Toney, but banned until end Jan next yr, could we survive with Richy and his injury record until then?

But for the love of God just go and sign at least one CH, two if Lenglet is not returning.

How crap must the Saudi League be that Dier doesn’t want to play there?
Dier refuses to move. De facto, he’s not for sale.

Charlie all but told us that Harry wants out. The only way he could make it any clearer is if he put an announcement in The Times.
We don't need to hear anything from Charlie, Kane hasn't signed a new contract, it's very clear he wants out.

Two of our best signings.
Levy did really well there.

Yeh fair it is just how much risk the club wants to take and how much plan they have if Kane does leave.

I would find it incredible, boardering on stupidity if a BM deal has been agreed and Kane is still being played let alone has travelled on tour?

Added to that all the media advertising featuring Harry regarding the new kit and other media appearences?

It could be that the club are negotiating with a replacement and want to keep their intended targets as quiet as possible?

I assume you mean a RW player starting over Kulu?

My concern is we've seen Richarlison struggle. Maybe in the new dynamic he kicks on, but if he doesn't then we've got a new Soldado holding us back and trying to play wingers out of position to fill the hole.

I'd rather do our best not to go down that road. I think we've been ridiculously thin and overly reliant on Kane anyway, and have said as much in the past.

We need an out and out striker signed to rotate and compete with Richarlison. If Kulu and Gil aren't the solution for the RW, then that's another matter to address - if not now then in the winter or next summer. But we can't just rely on Richalison filling Kane's position.

It's true. And that sucks, because I have no doubt future confidence about Richy replacing some of Kane's goals was a big part of what we hoped for when we made that transfer.

I guess my point is, I have more confidence in leaning on Son to be a goal-replacer than anyone we'd sign for any amount of money. "The guy Spurs bought to replace Kane" just seems like a 100% guarantee of doom to me. Toney, Osihmen, shit Haaland would turn into Soldado if cast in that role.

But Sonny mixing in with Richy in a setup that has a new big star attacker bombing in from the flanks? I could imagine that working.

Why wouldn't you play Son as a number 9 in this set up?

I don't think it's Richarlison. There's been talk for a long time about how we need to replace Kane with two players: 1 for the creativity, 1 for the goals. Maddison + new striker makes sense.
I don't think we're talking about the same thing.

Kane, obviously, is the best player by far we've had and no one player on the pitch will make up for his loss. So, yes, you're hoping the addition of Maddison and the new striker collectively make up for the lost production of Kane.

But I'm speaking very literally from a squad and depth perspective. We need Richarlison and an additional striker to rotate and compete at Kane's position in the squad and my interpretation of the statement is that. Richarlison is the in-house replacement, and we need to sign an additional player in that position.

We further need to carry Scarlett in the squad as the 3rd striker. Not fussed with what it means for his career, I don't see him making it at Spurs long term anyway.

It’s such a tough one to accommodate. I don’t like the idea of us trying to replace Kane in the immediate term, especially as we will get held to ransom in any funds we get from Bayern. I don’t want to waste 60 million on dross. We’ve already done that too many times.

We have Richie and we have Son. That could be the rotation. Solomon looks useful and Maddison can pitch in.

We simply have to readjust our expectations if Kane goes. Top 8 is good. Starting to really build a clear, post-Kane identity even better.

The other players simply have to step up. They need to absorb the pressure.

Having 1 legit striker in the squad is stupid. It was stupid when that player was Kane. It's ignorant when that player is Richarlison.
