The principle is exactly the same though, wherever the league there are FFP rules, and if they are broken then a fine is issued (usually negotiated over a protected period and then a settlement is agreed upon and paid), I've yet to see a fine issued and paid that act as a deterant vs the gain that was achieved for breaking it.

I don't think Boehly is inventing loopholes, I think they don't give a fuck, they are going to break FFP and factor in the fine/settlement as part of the cost.

Fair point regarding the players they are signing, I don't know much about most of them. I've seen it written that these players are on smaller salaries, whilst they are getting rid of those on big wages. But this is bogus too, as Sterling is on £325k pw, Enzo on £315k pw, James handed a new contract of £250k pw etc, etc....Also, these players have agents who's actual job is to get what is deemed "market rate" for their salaries, Caicedo would have been offered similar wages at Liverpool as he's getting at Chavs for example.

Spain and France have issued more than fines, they've relegated clubs and put transfer embargo's on their own clubs. Both countries are pretty hot on their own FFP compliance.

It is interesting that he’s such an outlier for three seemingly quite different stats atop three quite lists of players.

Not good or bad, just interesting.
The first two are linked, if he carries the ball for a really long distance every time while his teammates are still deep in their half then he's gonna have few passing options. The third stat I guess suggest that he's their main outlet.

Johnson, Traore, and Perisic on the list, plus the definition, suggests to me that players who love to dribble to the byline are at the top of the list. Whereas if your dribbles are more in-field there are easier passing options around.

Just spitballing.

Agree. All the data sets chucked up a bunch of pretty underwhelming players with the odd partial exception. Hard to read too much into it as a control trend

Hercules

“Our interest goes back two years. Involves couple our players, and at least one player. Ange rates him, but I don’t”

—-

Oh fuck off Hercules you soppy cunt!! Not once did you mention Johnson until the major journalists linked him properly tonight. Constantly does this and those clowns at SC all give him likes… “thanks Herc” …. “Awesome Herc”
Cunts!!!!!!!

He often hints that he is in the room for this sorts of discussions but keeps it vague enough to deny it.

He wouldn't have a clue about what Ange wants and to think Ange would swim through the mountains of wank socks in his mum's spare room to have it out with Hercules on transfers is weird.

What exactly does feast pass options post carry mean? Does that mean that on average Johnson has the fewest people to pass to after he's run with the ball?

Is that a good thing?
I suspect our hope is that we can take his ability to break the line but perhaps reduce the distance he runs, with the view to there being more passing options open to him, as all our players will be higher up the pitch.

Here’s hoping he actually knows how to pass when the options are available.

His XA90 last season was 0.11

That's less than Sessegnon, Richarlison, Gil, Moura and Porro, to name some less than stellar members of our non creative squad.

Thanks

So interpreting this stat is still ambiguous and would need visual scouting and context.
I'd very much caution against taking these metrics at face value. How do they even measure exepcted pass completion to all possible teammates at any given time when a player is on the ball? How do they collect the data, how can you even test those models?

I think it's possible to statistically analyse and model football, but it's very complex and I don't think Sky is doing the due diligence to get it right.

A lot of people want Toney and his can see why, I really rate him. My only issue really is the huge price tag for someone who is 27, I worry about how many years we would get out of him. That said I wouldn’t be disappointed if we signed him, in fact I’d be very excited. If he is a player we have targeted then get it done before January, financially it doesn’t make sense but him training with the side ASAP would be hugely beneficial.

I do feel we could do with a winger though, I’d happily drop £100m on Mitoma but I doubt Brighton sell.

Edit: I’m aware Mitoma is only a year younger but he improves our attack tenfold.

Toney will not be coming to Spurs.

Fucking obvious.

Why waste ink typing this bullshit.

But how is he a big step up over Kulu? Yeah he's a bit more of a livewire, but his finishing is shit, and he doesn't seem to be significantly better in any other technical aspect.

He's just 23 for fucks sake give the poor sod some time to develop.

Your the sort of fan who wants a player fully developed at three years old.

FFS get real and understand the game of football outside of video games.
