List in terms of what?

Pure footballing ability?
Potential?
As box to box midfielders?
As creative midfielders?

Currently, Maddison is better than all of them as an attacking midfielder. Barella is better footballer and better deeper so not a true comparison.

Szoboszlai doesn't really play as an attacking midfielder but I think he has the most potential on that entire list.
I'm not sure I agree that Szoboszlai has more potential than Florian Wirtz. He certainly has played as a central attacking midfielder but can pretty much play in any of the midfield positions. Not sure current form is that big a deal either Barella back from injury ect. If offered both I'd put current form aside and pick the Italian

Has Newcastle bound written all over it , sadly
Happy Jonah Hill GIF

Yeah and Coutinho’s one goal no assists really impressed me compared to Maddison’s 9 goals 5 assists.

Grob is having the season of his career in a flourishing side. Maddison is playing for shite and still out-producing him & has been doing so for years.

Madders is a great player. Scores, assists & even does some decent off the ball work lately. Good on set pieces too.
Villa are 10 points clear of the Foxes. Leicester are in a relegation battle.

Maddison is outperforming his xG+xA this season.

He is absolutely a great player.

He is absolutely not a top 10 AM on the planet.

Gundogan isn't even an attacking midfielder.

But your list is hilarious. Thanks for lightening the mood before the CL game. The forum needed it.
Gündogan absolutely can be used as an AM.

Last season, Maddison's G+A/90 was 0.73, Harvey Barnes' was 0.68

This season, Maddison's is 0.89, Barnes's is 0.42.

Maddison is having the type of season that Kulusevski had last season.

But he's not a pure attacking midfielder. City would most likely play Foden, Silva or de Bruyne in attacking midfield long before Gundogan would ever be tried there.

Barnes isn't an attacking midfielder either.

But what is your list for? Best players in order? Potential to be the best player? Better suited for Spurs?

To be fair, I worry about Wirtz with his cruciate injury. To his credit, he's returned with a bang and doing great at Leverkusen under Alonso.

You're getting caught up on the "pure" part. Has Maddison never played any other position than "pure AM"?

Interesting take. Transfermarkt seems to think Barnes is/has been/can be.

Can't speculate on what Pep might or might not do. He doesn't know half the time until the morning of.

Julian Brandt’s contract is up in 2024. Think we could get him for around 25/30.

Great player. Genuinely versatile, and not in the ‘bit shit in a few positions rather than just one’. Would work in a 4/3/3 or 4/2/3/1.

Any manager would want him.

Maddison has played on the right side of midfield plenty of times.

The reason I use the word pure is because I didn't want you to start listing the likes of Lionel Messi as a better attacking midfielder when we all know Messi doesn't play attacking midfield. Then lo and behold, you started naming the likes of Gundogan and Harvey Barnes.

It doesn't matter if Barnes has "other position" of attacking midfielder on transfermarkt. He's not an attacking midfielder. And if he has only played there once or twice, then that's even more of a reason to confirm he isn't a better one than Maddison.

So, you are hung up on the "pure" part.

It means something to you when you use it, but you think it's being used incorrectly when someone else uses it.
