This is why we might not spend much in the summer so any new manager could be pretty fucked without some external investment.

Many clubs have significantly increased transfer debt in the past few years. For example, Tottenham have grown to £252m, ahead of Woolwich £188m and Manchester United £182m (up to £307m in their Q1 2022/23 accounts).

to be fair modric has some thunder thighs on him. hes all legs.

the way gil dribbles he could defo put some strength into his legs and it would benefit him. he comes off as a different sort of dribbler to bernado, but then is that because bernado actually gets his fouls given as freekicks so they dont steam into him as much? or is he that much more elusive than gil?

'Thunder thighs'....sorry mate not seeing it. Blokes a tooth pic. He's strong mostly through his core and butt. This is the work Gill needs. Just packing muscel on him will most likely kill his gifts. Think its a mute point because I think he's finished as a Spurs player.

We are though sitting on more cash than any other team so to me that looks like we just haven’t used it to pay off the transfers.

Let’s hope that’s the case given we still have to start paying for Porro and kulusevski this summer.

As far as I remember, there was some suggestions that due to our significant liabilities tied to the stadium the club had to maintain a certain level of cash. I'm not doubting the number being reported but it is very likely that much of that won't/can't be touched for various reasons.

I'm a little fearful of what we'll actually be willing to spend this summer given that we've already spent a fair amount, and/or have yet to actually convert some of these loans fully into purchases.

I wouldn't be surprised even a little bit if we have a sell before we can buy situation coming up.

Pretty sure that was during and before the build not after the finishing and then setting up of fixed low interest bonds. We might still have one or two clauses but I doubt it would be £230m when the yearly interest payment Is around £30m.

Gvardiol's price just pummeled a bit; so I hope Levy's gonna call RBL and offer them Rodon + £10m for Gvardiol

Theres a couple more Napoli stars we were heavily linked with (and missed the bargains) before they moved to Naples definitely would've filled the gap left after Eriksen and Alli moved on

Eljif Elmas and khvicka Kvaratskhelia

Apart from having names most of us couldnt pronounce
these lads can play the game the right way
The underrated one that pisses me off the most because I saw him in the Prem and wanted him at Spurs is Zambo Anguissa!
Have no way to understand how the entire premier league whiffed on him and allowed him to leave. Would cost 60m at least now

Interesting graph, but I assume it includes loan-to-buy obligations as well?
That is in 2022 there should have been Romero and Kulusevski with combined of ~90 mil. That would leave us with 162 mEUR and only briefly ahead of Aston Villa.

Depending on how well we do the clear-out in the summer, there should be another chunk of it shaved off when we can get LoCelso, Ndombele and Regulion off our books. This could be another 50 mil.

In that instance it might decrease overall levels close to 100 mil.

And those transfer debts are not due to be paid in next window. For example when we made Richie and Romero permanent in the summer 2022, it represented total outlay of ~110 mEUR. But it will be spread often across 4-5 years. So every year we might be talking about 22 mEUR cash movement. And in similar fashion if we were to buy a new Star Player for 75 mil EUR, it will also be spread across 5 payments or whatever.

So I would not stress too much about this figure in all honesty.

Yeah Anguissa was obvious quality, he would've been a good Dembele replacement with his dribbling and tackling. I had no idea how so many clubs who needed a midfielder (including us and Liverpool) let him go to Napoli for cheap.

I think what this does show is why there was the necessity to throw that extra 150m in the pot last summer and that it wasn't fuckery that we didn't blow every penny the moment we got it.
