We're being linked to Ferran Torres in the papers today. Probably just paper talk but I guess he's a possible Son successor then.

23 years old. Left winger. Knows the league and we know that he can deliver in it. 13 goals and 8 assists in 63 games for Barcelona since he joined them in January 2022. And he had 16 goals and 4 assists for City in 43 games.

The question is obviously would he want to move back to England? (although London may be more appealing than Manchester), and what would he cost since he has a contract until 2027 if true.

Barca trying to raise money so they can bring Messi back.

Doubt very much we are interested. He's average.

He does use his right foot not often but he does use it go check his assist for Bentancur 2nd goal Vs Leeds. Probably the best bit of play from us this season.
He uses his right foot, but only to float a high cross or blast a low uncontrollable cross..

Something that only comes off once ever times

i see Rodon has been an unused sub for the last 7 games. Dear oh dear, guess he will be back in the summer.
Spence also warming Rennes bench now
Does that not tell you that maybe they are not good enough. Rodon has had a shocker over there. Spence has been playing but the games I’ve seen Rennes and he doesn’t look the player we saw at forest. Completely different level though.

indeed, I was always of the opinion that Spence wasnt getting minutes because he simply wasnt good enough to displace Doherty or Emerson, rather than Conte being spiteful

Watch again. he uses his right foot better than you think.

His right foot is better than Salah....

It's just a style to play dominant foot as an inside winger, the shape to cut in is difficult for a left-footed left-back to defend whilst trying to show him outside.

It's obviously an aesthetic thing when it comes to left footers. You rarely hear people go on about right footed players not using their weak foot.

Modric for example never used his left foot. Was always right foot dominant, would prefer to use the outside of his right boot than his left

he can use his left foot alright hahah. the outside the boot has become a bit of his trademark. outside the foot has always been a bit of a connoisseur hallmark

I appreciate the BL is not the PL. Dortmund not Leicester etc. Just using it to make a point. Let's see who we end up with and how much we pay. But I'd have no problem with us bringing Brandt in at all. Good footballer, has a brain, can actually move with the ball as well as see a pass and scores. Can play 8/10/WF. He would cost less and in wages than someone like Maddison and be a definite positive addition to the nothingness we have right now.

Brandt

I can't believe the club are seriously thinking about any high level signings until the coach is lined up.
If they are, then they truly, truly have NFI what it takes to run a football club.
It's like deciding you want a an interior designer to model your house, but buying all the paint, sofa's, etc before you even approach the designer.

Udogie, whenever I've watched him, looks very disinterested in the defensive side of things and not exactly willing to run down the pitch as he is running up the pitch. I would be quite concerned if we wanted to play with attacking FB's in a back 4 system.

And we don't have any other viable LB's at the club. So even if Udogie is OK, we are going to need another one.

I quite like Truffert at Rennes. And I think we've been linked to him.
Porro and Udogie won’t be able to play together in a back 4 straight away, way too unbalanced defensively. I believe we should get a manager in who is up to date with inverted fullback tactics. We have two natural wingbacks in Udogie and Porro and both should be able to easy adapt

The FB pairings next season should be:
Porro and Davies/new LB
Udogie and Emerson

Our fullback situation is apart of the reasons I want someone like Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique, or Kompany. Porro and Udogie have very high potential with these managers specifically, assuming we want to switch to a back 4

We have had multiple journalists say we are pushing for Maddison and Ugarte. Combined this £100m spend for our midfield/AM. I do have to admit I am biased as I think Maddison is a great player and Ugarte the 3-4 times I have seen him is a little beast, very similar to bruno guimarães at Newcastle, combative, good on the ball, can do a bit of everything.

Big upgrade there but concerns me we won’t have enough money to fix our backline.

Recently investing in Porro, Spence, Undogie. Is it harder to convert these players into FB with 4 at the back? I'm already fed up with 3/5 at the back.

Wouldn't it make more sense to find a lock down LCB who can partner with Romero? Additionally find a mixture of 3 CMs that are defensively sound while also being able to play with the ball at their feet.

I have no faith Spurs can find 2 good ball playing CBs that can also defend.

Would normally agree but if you have a long-term plan that you are recruiting towards then you hire a manager to coach the squad you are building not the other way around.

We are partially in the mess we are in because we kept bringing in players for managers then firing them.

On that note, maybe Gretar and the other dude are just continuing with the plan and Maddison and Ugarte will be players the new coach will have to work with.

To be honest, any manager that doesn't want to work with Maddison and Ugarte is probably a manager we don't want.

If we really are chasing and signing these 2, it probably reflects well on the club actually having an idea what they want to do long term.
