United are after a GK.

Ten Slags said it direct quote.

We don't know what kind of keeper we need because we don't have a coach.

Raya's strengths are long kicks, throws and saving long shots. Perfect for deep block, counter-attack teams.

If we get a coach that wants possession and a GK that can tippy tap in the build-up, Raya is hopeless for that.
Hopeless is very strong, but short game definitely not as strong as long passing. A lot of it is that he's jittery at times recieving on his weaker side, some of it is down to the quality of ball you receive at times from somebody like Ben Mee when he's under pressure.
Think a lot of it can be put down to how Brentford are set up, full backs or cb's don't pull wide to offer options as they generally play long or to the flanks. Just looking at a highlight video now, quite comfortable playing high volume short passes from the back vs an admittedly weak Albanian side pressing high in his Spanish debut, where you have cm's and Pau Torres showing extremely well for the ball

That's decent context tbf.

Maybe LE could tweak it to work with his strengths.

I'd prefer we sign Unai Simon tho if it is LE coming in.

In the build-up he's really not great.

Being better than Hugo or Fraser doesn't mean he's good for a possession-based coach.

He could improve with the right coach and his long distribution is really good but right now, he's perfectly suited to what Conte and Jose needed, not what a JN, LE, or even AP would need.

Lloris was Poch's first choice GK throughout Poch's time here, and Poch certainly played possession based football.

So Raya is fine for possession based football as he's far better than Lloris on distribution and playing out with his feet.

Poch doesn't use the GK in the build up tp beat the press. He like LLoris because he played a high line and Lloris would sweeper keeper like a nutter.

Raya has decent long ball distribution. When I have watched him in the build up, it's panic stations all the time. The scrutiny he'd be under at Spurs is very different to Brentford.

The longer this goes on, the more it starts to look like the club really are planning to make decisions without a DOF and Coach.

Still some hope these are just rumours but it's not looking good brev

I've no doubt that Paratici, his recruitment staff plus thoughts of Conte, Mason and even previous managers could divide players into various categories such as :

- No longer thought worth keeping, cheaper better players available : Moura, Danjuma etc
- Bought specifically to fit Conte's system, review if suitable for new manager : Lenglet
- Failed under multiple managers, unlikely to be good enough for new manager : Ndombele, Lo Celso etc
- Chronic injured not thought likely to improve : Sessegnon
etc.

We are starting with 32+ players

Squad in 22/23 :
GK'
s - (3) Lloris (36), Forster (34), Austin (23)
CB's
- (6) Romero (24), Dier (28), Davies (29), Sanchez (26), Lenglet (loan) (28), Tanganga (23)
FB's
- (4) Royal (24), Persic (34), Sessegnon (22), Porro (24)
CM's
- (5) Bissouma (26), Bentancur (25), Hojbjerg (27), Skipp (22), Sarr (20)
Fwds
- (6) Kane (29), Son(30), Kulusevski (loan) (22), Richarlison(26), Moura (30), Danjuma (loan) (24)

Out on loan 8 players - Reguilon, Lo Celso, Ndombele, Winks , Rodon, Spence, Udogie , Gil ,

Most managers will tell you that they cannot assess that many players in training - so it makes absolute sense to thin down the squad by offloading players who won't be wanted by most managers or where the option to buy is too high.

That way a new manager might be able to more easily assess the 25 + players left.

The idea a manager needs to agree every player in his squad is bollocks anyway - its rare for a club to bring in more than 6 players a year, so given the squad has 25 players, that means a squad gets fully churned in 4 years or so.

And with the average tenure of a PL manager being 18 months .... most managers NEVER get to choose all their squad. In fact the average manager probably has a say on 10 or less of his 25 man squad !

So 'thinning' a squad to discard obvious players makes absolute sense..... even to an incoming manager

Just going by their market value

That would be a spectacular clear out. Except for Ben. Got a soft spot for him for some reason.

Not sure getting half that lot out the door is achievable, let alone the whole list though. And if we do, I’d expect the parentheses to say (free) for most of them.
Agree it would be difficult, and i don't expect it to happen.

But it is what should happen if we had people at the club who knew what they we're doing.

And it's of course unrealistic to only keep one CB.

That situation depends on how many CB's we sign. If we sign 2, we would probably have to keep 2 out of Dier, Sanchez, Lenglet, Rodon, Tanganga!

So i think we are stuck with Dier 😪

Would it be totally unrealistic to go for 3? Guehi, Laporte, Ndicka?

I don’t think any of the first nine will recoup a fee, we will have to pay them to go as no-one will match their wages. There are only about ten clubs in world football that would level our wages and none of those clubs will want those dreggs
You're probably right!

So let's start terminating contracts then!!!

By the definition of "tracking" isn't that a weird thing to do in this case... 🤔

noun: tracking
  1. 1.
    ELECTRONICS
the maintenance of a constant difference in frequency between two or more connected circuits or components.
    • the formation of a conducting path for an electric current over the surface of an insulating material.
  2. 2.
the alignment of the wheels of a vehicle.
"kerbing can put the tracking out pretty quickly"

  3. 3.
    US
    the streaming of school pupils.
Is "tracking" before or after the "monitoring" phase?
