As far as Tapsoba is concerned, I think Leverkusen will say it's 55mil and not a penny less...and that's before we even get to bonuses. They know what they've got and that if he had another big season for them, he'd either stay to play CL football or go to Bayern/City/Real/PSG for 80+.

I just don't see us spend that kind of money, not when we've got such a bloated squad. If we somehow managed to get a few mil for Sanchez, Dier, GLC & co, then yeah perhaps. But I'd be stunned if we invested big on him or another CB before we shift some deadwood.

More likely we'll get one or 2 backup type dudes first, then have a pop at Tap later on if the stars align.
This makes sense, but I am holding out some slim hope it is not the case. Or that our analytics has uncovered another Kim Min-Jae.

We arent buying cheap players because of some genius master plan like Moneyball or something. And anyone that thinks that is deluded.
If that was our methodology and we had some new fangled scientific approach or a change of scouting teams with fresh ideas I'd be all over it.

We are buying Vicario because Reya was too dear for Levy.

And now all I see is a load of stat waving and people on maximum cope trying to justify it. Reya was our first choice and we went with our second choice because the first choice was too pricey.

This is "ambition" under ENIC and it has ever been thus, with only a handfull of exceptions to the rule.

The punt could very well turn out to be a master stroke for all I know, but lets kid ourselves that we have unearthed a gem or some tosh. This guy is 2nd choice, could even be third for all we know.

And the likes of George Graham on max cope can put a little disagree all he wants but he knows this is the truth of the matter.
No disrespect but you haven't got a scooby whether Raya was our first choice.
Just because you read something in the tabloids, it ain't necessarily true.

Not sure we need barnes especially price quotes. We have Alfie and Gil who can play wide attack. Spend the money on a tough tackling midfielder or young CF.
How can you compare Gill and Devine to Barnes? 34 goals and 23 assists in his last four PL seasons, he would be a very smart signing who can only get better u der an attacking manager like Ange.

Gil has no output, Devine is not a wide forward. Apart from Kane and Son we have nobody who offers any goals on a consistent basis. This has to be addressed during this window.

Is PSGcommunity their version of spurscommunity??

What is it with just all this players linked from Italy? Fab still pulling the strings. Seems like another cheap punt and how can it be as an alternative to lengket. We don’t even have him yet. I’d rather just give our academy players a chance than spend 12M on someone who may or may not be any good. Just buy real quality soend the money if needed and use academy players or up coming players from England.
The Head Scout Gabbanini doing the DOF job

Been watching Tapsoba highlights (I know), he seems like the right profile to pair with Romero. Essentially what we wishd Sanchez would be.

Big, strong, fast, good at clearing aerial long balls, and of course good with the ball at his feet.

I like what I'm seeing of Vicario and if we can set up going into next season with quality looking players like Udogie Porro, Romero, Tapsoba, Bentancur, Maddison, Kulusevski, Richarlison, an on form Sonny and Kane we won't be a million miles away from being in a good place talent wise.

I do think we should be all the way in for a double swoop at Leicester though with Maddison and Barnes. Barnes would be a huge upgrade on Lucas

I take your point about Alfie & Gil, but Barnes was already a first XI pick for a fairly attacking manager......... Becoming a rotation player here hardly guarantees him hiting a new even higher level.

Either that or, possibly more likely, we’re still using the players that were on his list. (Not necessarily a good thing.)

Doc Doc

This shows Vicario as 3rd best GK in Serie A (on PSxG), and one of the GKs above him barely played any games. But it also shows Onana and Maignan has lowly ranked, so can this be trusted?
Another thing that is encouraging, is that the other Empoli keeper (Perisan) that played in the 7 games Vicario was out, is in the bottom 15 (out of 46) for that stat, showing it wasn't the defence or tactics that helped (e.g. putting pressure on the attacker).

Certainly better than Lloris but looked like a disaster waiting to happen in some places
Yea- actually at least from this video I think his shot stopping is worse than Lloris. I understand he’s young and likely will improve, but dang, the video definitely does not put me at ease.

Keeper is somewhat a make or break it position. Not spending more money on the proven, ready to compete Raya is a sure sign we‘re back in development mode.

Lots of reports of Newcastle shifting their focus elsewhere.

Could Maddison fall in our laps ?
Seems to be creeping in that direction.. we'll still have to pay around 45m if we want him I'd think... which shouldn't be an issue, but..

The longer you dawdle then you could have other clubs in play. If City lose Gundogan, Bernardo and have kdb turning 32 this month I could see them having some interest. Apparently they approached Leicester about a move in January.. I do think there's a few marks against Maddison that mean he's more likely to join a club at our level, and not City's.

Vicario
Porro
Romero
Tapsoba
Udogie
Bentancur
Bissouma
Maddison
Kulusevski
Son
Kane

Forster
Spence
Adarabioyo
Carter-Vickers
Sessegnon
Skipp
Hatate
Scott
Barnes
Richarlison
Furuhashi

I do wonder if Carter-Vickers being academy trained is someone we are re-considering especially with his Celtic/ Ange experience

Normally when I say ‘never heard of him’ I’ve at least seen the name somewhere, this guy I’ve got no clue. Tbf a lot of us have complained that we should be trying to follow in the lead of the likes of Brighton and Brentford with more clever signings in the transfer market - so maybe this is one. 40m for Raya is ridiculous, I feel like the club thinks if this doesn’t work out we can have him on a free next year, by which time Forster’s deal will be up and we’ll want to replace him. If we’re gonna overpay for a transfer I’d rather it be Maddison tbh. As long as we don’t go cheap on every deal. Although I can see that one going late in the window because we know at the end of the day Leicester has to sell. He ain’t playing championship.
