You can blame him for his decisions having a domino affect, if Conte actually did his job and used Spence then then there's a high chance we wouldn't have signed Porro.
He thought that Spence wasn't ready to play at the required level so he was loaned out, that's part of his job, it wasn't his decission to purchase Spence in the first place, and after all Emerson came good,

Now if the management team have decided to loan out Spence again that's not on Conte, Ange abviously doesn't rate Spence in his system if he goes out on loan, which is just the way the cookie has crumbled.

Why can't we blame the higher ups for purchasing Spence in the first place when Conte didn't ask for him and talked about Spence as a club signing for the future?

Almost as much as the levybot accusations.
Really? Cause there's a lot of people who are strangely quick and consistent at jumping to his/ENICs defence. As in, they will literally quote every post to try to argue against anyone who doesn't like them.

I personally found it tiring. I have my opinion and don't need to argue it with wierdos so I put them all on ignore.

But they're closer to "Levybots" than anyone else is to Gooners.

Yet still the irrationals will blame Conte.

At some stage people may one day come to realise Spence was another Nkoudu opportunistic Levy deal.

If someone offered our money back for Spence and it could be put towards a top draw centreback to get that over the line then I think it’s something we should do. I’d be amazed if he has a future at the club if he’s loaned out again.

But in January it was pretty clear to almost everyone that Conte had no long term future at the club. He didn't want to sign a new contract, he was still living in a hotel, his family was still in Italy, already there were issues between him and the club, his whole demeanor was weird. The club should have said just make do with what you have and we will look at the RB situation in the summer or at least have negotiated a deal with Sporting without an obligation to buy.

Conte made it clear he didn't want Spence, but the club bought him anyway. Iirc Levy had some kind of connection with Spence's agent and it seemed he was on a mission to get the deal done no matter what Conte wanted.

How can a club invest so heavily in players when it employs managers who play such different systems, there is no continuity in thinking and planning. Yes buy wing backs if you know you will always hire managers who believe in playing 3 at the back and use wing backs. If you are not committed to that style as a club, you are just asking for trouble.

Since 2019 the club has been a disaster, wrong managerial appointments, huge amounts of money wasted on the wrong players, no plan, let's hope that with Ange we have the right guy and he is backed by the club and the fans with trust and patience.
This is very true Levy in it up to his eyeballs frankly ridiculous recruitment all round.

We spent the best part of 6 weeks chasing Spence, if he didn't want him at any point you'd think he would have called it out and put a stop to it but he didn't.

I wouldn't have even had a problem if Conte actually played him, he didn't even start him in the cup where he rested players which tells you all you need to know.

Logic dictates that the only player you can move on in this situation is Spence, Emerson is the best suited to the role and we just signed Porro.

Just like Poch said OK to Clark, Yedlin, Fazio and various others, what do you think? He really wanted them there?

Poch stayed at this club for 5 years and in that time signed a new contract as well, he was obviously content with the recruitment, if he wasn't he would have fucked off.😉

Comparing Poch to Conte is pretty funny though.

Big enough club to keep all three on the books for another year at least imo. Let Ange make his judgements on Emerson/Porro this coming season, loan Spence to a PL side for the season and see how he fares (Everton, promoted side possibly). Either you have a player ready to come into your squad next season, or a player hopefully worth a bit more after PL exposure. Selling him now for £15m isn't the answer.

This is exactly what we should do but we will wait for his stock to fall further a la Rodon and hoep that Ange's successor can get a tune out of him.

I can't actually beleive that you're blaming Conte if Spence goes out on loan this season.

Conte didn't put a stop (even if he could) on the Spence transfer because he thought he would be a good club signing for the future, but he sure as hell didn't ask for Spence.

I'm sure I read an article that Conte ok'd Spence.

Straight from the horse's mouth:

"Spence is an investment of the club. The club wanted to do it."

“I said ‘OK, this player is young but he showed he can become a good, important player for us’. The club decided to buy him.”

Rightly or wrongly, Spence was clearly one for the future as far as Conte (and maybe the club) was concerned and not in his plans. He was a club investment, like Jack Clarke.

Up to Ange as to whether or not he's good enough for our squad. If not, loan him out and hope he has a good season then sell him for a profit if he does.
