I expect someone will inform us that, villa were bigger than spurs in 1878 , and so we shall be happy being where we are.
They were the FA Cup record holders before the EPL and have won a 1st division title and a European Cup in the same era as our last European achievement.
We were well behind them during the Sugar era and only moved past them under ENIC as they fell and we improved.
The idea that we’re such a bigger club than Villa is hubris.

Aside from the stadium, training ground, revenue, global fan base, and brand recognition.

Or recent champions league appearances in the last 15 years. Or average league finishes. Or the number of world class players in our squads

In fact, apart from all the usual things you use to measure the size of a football club, we aren’t really bigger than Villa at all.

And there we go, thanks for that, although I never said we who were the bigger club.
I actually think we are similar, but their owners have more about them imo.

I like the idea of having a big club representing their region.
I don't hate that Newcastle and Villa are on the up.
As I keep on saying we need more teams that are capable of beating Man City otherwise they win the EPL every season.

You do love to post your supposition as fact. You don’t have a clue but you’re writing like you got off the phone with all the chairmen.
Think of one example when a club that wasn’t in financial trouble and sold two of their best players in one window, especially when they were under long contracts?

Of course it’s Fucking supposition you doughnut, we are on a chat forum. That’s what we are all doing. This supposition is based on how clubs generally act.

Right and the information we have is that a bid of €35m was rejected.

You come across as hysterical. Is your wife like this too?

You’re clearly implying that we need to go back a century — you use the year 1878 — to show parity.
If not then why not use 1983 or 1984 when they were champions of England and then Europe?
Or any period between 1996 - 2001 when they were always top 5 or 6 and we were mid table?

I'm starting to get very frustrated at our club.

It is concerning that Leverkeusen are negotiating a sale that would then (possibly? probably?) exclude a sale of our top-rated target ( if indeed he is).
Of course, we don’t know where the club are on working through its list of targets — we know Nelsson and others are in the mix — but it seems a lot of posters here are invested in getting Topsoba.
