Yup, I said what I said.
Bizarre take in my opinion. Not entirely responsible but faaack me did they play a big part - the reason the crowd turned on Sanchez is because they knew he would faaack up and it would cost us and then right on queue he did.

Our midfield had to play as deep as it did because the defence couldnt be trusted. Leeds at home/Bournemouth away we were getting battered and it was the midfield that got us over the line in those games. Kieffer fucking Moore was giving our defence the run around.

There were a lot of reasons for us conceding the way we did last season: our CBs were all bad, constantly dropping clangers and failing to do the basics, this includes Romero, our MCs outside of Bentancur did not do enough defensive work, our keepers were a mess, Perisic and Son pretty much contributed nothing off the ball, Porro couldn't stop a 9-year-old girl running down the flank.
Keepers were shocking as well, Hugo is done at this level and Forster is pants - rumour is he is still mid dive for that Leicester third goal. I’ve heard of going down in instalments but not like a 30 year mortgage.

Well I noticed a load of yellow cards being given to a the predominantly Levy out mob - it did seem a bit one sided
Thats typically for abuse, although I definitely defended one person today who I disagree with on nearly everything Football related and who I think can be toxic. But yes, one side is far more abusive than the other.

You seem like a reasonable, intelligent person who comes to discuss in good faith. You won’t have any problems here.

Welcome :)

I think it’s almost psychological now, definitely for Davinson. Their heads go down too easily and one mistake is quickly followed by another - Newcastle for instance.

Dier is one of those players that always looks busy but never seems to accomplish much. I look at Romero and sure he plays on the edge but he is crunching the opposition, happy to push up aggressively and comfortable on the ball- Dier doesn’t do that. Lenglet is more passive but he reads the game well and is comfortable on the ball. Diers good in the air, that’s about it.

We need a fresh start at CB

Dier was one of the least dribbled past centre halves in the league, purely because he would back off indefinitely, even if they just had a free shot and scored. I don't know if that's coached or his decision, but I don't remember him being that bad with it previously.

Romero on the other hand would go galivanting up field and dive into tackles - meaning he was dribbled past quite a lot, but also was not there to cover.
For me he looked very naive and not much of a team player at times. Sometimes his actions would make others look bad whilst making himself look 'aggressive' putting himself about.

Yes we need a centre half or 2, but I'm certainly not giving Romero a free pass. From what I saw last season he wasn't good enough and ought to be held to account just as much as the others.

The one thing which is massively overlooked and under appreciated is the impact of losing Bentancur - one of, if not the best central midfielder in the league at that moment in time. With him in the side we were on for a 71+ point season, a tally we ultimately fell 11 points short of. His work with and without the ball, offensively and defensively should not be under estimated. We don't concede 15 goals in 4 games with him in the side. Had that been around 5 conceded (10 fewer) like it ought it have been, we still don't have a fantastic defensive record - but certainly wouldn't be reflected on like it is currently.

Imagine that, 24% of our entire seasons conceded goals coming in 4 defensive horror shows.

Maybe, my point is more of a collective issue as opposed to just blaming it all on the defence for the reasons stated, it's not as black and white as merely blaming our back line, there was so many other factors that people don't really consider.

Having just got back from the pub I'm feeling quite relaxed about the whole situation right now. I perhaps am more relaxed about it than some by nature. I want to see those CB changes but it will happen when it happens.
That's the crux of it mate.

EVERY window we have the same reactions, panic and anger until the player is signed, then move into panicking about the next player on the wishlist.

This is interspersed with panic and anger at other teams transfers.

You'd think that after all of this happening twice a year, for countless years, these lemons would wise up and chill out just a little but no, if anything they double down.

I'm convinced that there's more than just a little Goldfish DNA in a lot of our fan base.

Oh sorry I thought you meant your question about how far down the list Kilman is.

Honestly, most of the work should have been done before the window opened, players sounded out about do they want to move - legally using agents talking to agents in the roundabout way they do. Fees discussed with clubs.

So my wait time would be nothing at all, I wouldn’t be hanging about for opportunistic signings. If a selling club told me that they would need a week to line up their replacement then maybe I wait for that but honestly my list is exhausted day one - at that point I know which deals are viable and which are going nowhere.

Of course that could mean that you miss out on a player who suddenly becomes available at the end of the window - I think that’s preferable to waiting all window to see if that transpired before realising it won’t and panic buying Rodon
So what do you do if you approach the other club early and they tell you they'll happily talk to you when the window opens but not before? Say bollocks to that and move onto your second choice?

Your strategy is sound up to a point, that point being where you haven't taken into account that there's another 3 parties who will all have their own strategy, and will likely only want to deal with you on their own terms.

Agents will want to tout their player out to interested parties, the selling club will too. Then the player will want to weigh up his options.

Whilst it is desirable to have these players in for the preseason tour, a handful of games, which are essentially PR warm ups, are not necessarily a guarantee that these players will magically gel. That's what the training pitch is for. So whilst I agree that spending the time with the rest of the team would likely help them to integrate into the team much better, it's by no means imperative.

I’ve not been a member of this site long but there is clearly a little cabal of posters on here that can’t wait to jump down peoples throats for saying anything negative about dear leader.

I try to avoid the whole Levy thing because it’s splitting the fanbase big time, but people should be allowed to criticise without fearing a ban/yellow card
It's not the negativity, we all feel that. It's the constant repetition of the same tired old dirge that "a little cabal of posters" roll out every single day.

That's all that ever really gets jumped on here. Every single thread, regardless of the content, gets hijacked by some bellend who's only interest is to start a cunt off.

Have you ever seen Ace Ventura Pet Detective? Where he visits Ray Finkle's parents house, and the bedroom is covered in "Die Dan Marino" scrawls all over the walls?

That's how I see the houses of these hate merchants. Not the bedroom, the entire feckin house!

Don’t worry I’ve conversed with a fair few already. As soon as you say we could have handled the window better they can’t wait to jump down your throat
That's called a counterargument.

Granted some are more aggressive in their approach than others, but it's more about the content than the tone.

It'll take a while to work out those who actually have something worthwhile to say, on both sides of the 'divide.' It'll take you less time to work out those who have only one thing that they want to post about.

If all you want to do on here is wallow in self misery, the cadre will welcome you with open arms.
If you want intelligent discourse, you'll soon work out who to avoid, on both sides.

You seem to be a pretty intelligent guy, so I doubt it'll take you that long to reach your conclusions.
