I do think Woolwich definitely bottled the league last season BUT it's also true to say they are really backing their manager this summer and going for signings that improve their first team and squad.

Rice, Havertz and Timber are good signings and I suspect they'll bring in more, once they've managed to shift out a few of course.

We've made a decent start to our window but need at least one CB and the Harry Kane situation is yet to be resolved. We also need to move out quite a few players, so far nobody is biting but is that due to our owners wanting too much or they're just shit?

Probably a bit of both.

Rubbish. They were beaten by the biggest financial dopers in the league.
Spurs are bad they don’t spend enough , Gooners are good they spending hundreds of millions , Man City are bad they spent to
Much?
And I thought the Goldilocks story was fucking confusing!

Depends what you'd consider Ben Davies.

A new centre back means we'd have 7 centre backs for two positions. That's clutter.

I think the key point here is that (you'd hope) the new guys wouldn't be those you'd define as "clutter".

So get 'em in ASAP......

I'm not saying we should, but if it came to it we could release Dier, Tanganga & Rodon on deadline day and it wouldn't exactly be an insurmountable financial disaster.

re Davies: As someone that is likely our best back up in 2 diff. positions; no I don't consider him clutter either.

It has to be said the window is taking on a very familar feel after a relatively promising start. Struggling to shift players and the most glaring weakness in the side left untouched. I have no idea why they took the likes of Perisic, Sanchez, Rodon, Reggie and Lo Celso on tour.

We need a lot of squad churn
and as it stands Dier, Hojbjerg and possibly Davies will be starting in 4 weeks. I want to be positive, i want to look forward to a season for the first time in 5 years but bloody hell they make it so difficult to do that. A bit more urgency and intent would be welcome but i just dont think they have it in them to change, just too set in their ways .
This seems to be quite a strong indicator on where the club stands with Eric Dier:

I agree with you that you can hang your hat on Harry and I don’t blame him for us not winning anything. I was just saying Hoddle scored in semis and a final.
Hoddle was my god because he played the game the way a midfielder should. Scored incredible goals with either foot, could open a tin of beans with left never mind a defence. His goal against Oxford in his last game was just funnily brilliant.

Harry is still in my top 5 of all time though.
Where in that 5 I don’t know. Hoddle,Gazza,Modric,Kane and Bale. Now there’s a front 5 🤣🤣🤣🤣
No Ledley King?

No Dembele?

Flawed argument. You say they were sold to “balance the books” yet they were sold past their prime at reduced fees. Those purchased cost a bloody fortune so there was no balancing of the books. The issue is those expensive buys did not bear fruits, The money was still spent. IF you had maligned Levy/ENIC for choosing poorly your argument would have some merit. But as you haven’t said that it comes across as another anti ENIC rant which frankly puts me to sleep 💤
The transfer money, that led to the sacking of Poch & Hitchen, was wasted so it then became necessary for Jose to sell to buy.

Of course the Levyites do not interpret things this way.

Why would they?

They are here to defend the subsequent sale of Harry Kane for the same reasons.

And despite the evidence that our recruiting has significantly improved in the past couple of years, you continue to peddle revisionist history nonsense. Surprised you didn't go back to 2013 or 2009.

And yeah, let's not sell Harry to get some transfer funds ending up with no one instead. Heck, by your logic we shouldn't buy any new player again ever as long as baldy is in charge.

The state of some of our fans and their fixation with Levy...
Paratici has done a decent job for Spurs.

I've stated this point of view many times. Especially when Levy was getting slated for hiring Paratici.

However; Levy's errors, since the constructive dismissal of Paul Mitchell, are haunting the club to this day and will continue to do so while Spurs slide down the table and compete with the likes of Villa for the 'best of the rest' trophy we left behind under Poch; due to Mitchell's recruitment.

Good post.

Sadly Woolwich have improved in my opinion.. Rice is Keane-like but without the lunacy. Whether good or bad who knows but a quality player without doubt, and good character.

Havertz needs warmth I think and to br part of something settled. Woolwich are more likeky to provide that than the club our ex-manager just joined. Hope I'm wrong but there looks a player in there to me..

I don’t think so this season either.

If Levy stays involved, the trajectory is headed that way.

There is no debate that he has the football club on a downward trajectory and it looks like all his old habits are back again this summer.

The whole Everton take is wyld-as-fuck considering the fool-hardy hysterics that ensued here when Moshiri arrived and started playing the big man....... Man completely wrecked an EPL stalwart and they still can't get rid of him.

Everton have flirted with relegation for two seasons now. They're broke and have horrible recruitment. You're just saying utter nonsense.
