What the fuck. Gift Orbans record is :

20 goals and 2 assists in 19 starts
19 goals and 7 assists in 21 stats

In his only two seasons of professional football. This guy is either going to score goals everywhere he goes or he's just going to another Patson Daka type who had tons of hype and never lived up to it.

Not sure he's one we'll sign but I am suddenly invested in seeing where his career goes from here.
So you're saying he's the Gift that keeps giving?

would be an nice price for a talented player, only seen him in the u20's tournament but he really looked to have something abut him. Chelsea, Brighton doing a lot of these kinda deals right now.. I feel our pickups of Udogie and Sarr could end up some of our smartest transfers in recent years. More of this, please.

Shhh, we aren't allowed to talk about 'club signings' in here.

Worth a try. His story is mental.

Looks like he’s just randomly has every finish you could want and uses both feet. Maybe a mini genius

Bit short though.

Can he play off the wing as well?

No idea. Can't say I've ever heard of him outside of the few on here that recommend him.

Seems like the type of signing Brighton or Brentford or someone would make who'd come in and get double digit goals and people will be like "they've done it again"

But knowing our toxic fanbase he'd be berated the moment he got here.

"we've give from Kane to this?"
"Never done it in a top league"

Etc etc.

Maybe we should stick to big money 60m striker signings to show ambition.

Those are some tidy stats tbf :ledleylick:

Theory: we need to sell to buy, and we'll be able to buy both Tapsoba and VDV once we sell Kane.

Here's some (circumstantial) evidence in support of this:

This is our net spend over the last 5 seasons:

23/24: £-107.12m
22/23: £-118.93m (8th)
21/22: £-52.38m (4th)
20/21: £-83.08m (7th)
19/20: £-73.5m (6th)

Despite this being the only season with no European football, this is our second highest spending window so far. "But Porro doesn't count! We wanted to pay his fee last window and only agreed to pay it this window due to Sporting's demands!" fair enough, subtract the £34m we paid for Porro and add it to the last window instead, that'd still put this window at around the average of 19/20-21/22, despite no European football. And no, I'm not going to substract the Kulu fee as well, that was negotiated and paid this window.

Besides that, we are planning to sell around £130-140m worth of players (let's say £90m for Kane, £40-50m for the rest of the gang), does anyone think we're going to spend more than £130m this window? On who? Tapsoba + VDV is around £80m, let's say another £20m for Orban. Do you really think we have an extra £50m to throw around beyond that to buy Tapsoba now?

People moaning at the fact we didn't sign Raya for 40m just because he was our number one target are fucking idiots then and probably not worth discussing anything with.

So there is one positive from it, I guess.
I would disagree with this.

We’ve know for how long that we’ve needed to replace Lloris.
If Raya was identified as the first choice, in such a key position, where he could be our keeper for 10 years, suits the style of our new manager to a tee and has genuine, proven quality, then is 40 million really that excessive in todays market?

In one of Pochettino’s best describing quotes re our transfer policy “we cannot keep trying to be clever in the market and expecting success”

40m for a goalkeeper with one year left on his contract is most definitely excessive.

Again, Raya is the quintessential Levy signing. One year left on his deal, Prem proven, HG and should have realistically been pretty cheap. It's just that Brentford overpriced him and we didn't want to get fleeced.

Raya and Maddison are pure Levy signings. Both had all the same hall marks. Except one was actually worth what he was priced at.

Vicario, going off what Ange wants in a goalkeeper, looks more of a realistic fit anyway. And considering Anges positive words on Vicario's hard work to get where he's got, tells me all I need to know on what Ange wants from a personality standpoint in his players.

I just find it hilarious that if we were after say, Onana but got quoted 40m and said no to it only to go and sign Raya, who has one year left on his deal, for 15m, the club STILL would have got pelters.

It's not about the goalkeeper or their ability. It's about a fanbase point scoring over fees and supposed ambition. I remember "just pay the fee" when it came to Porro. It was never a about ability. Because it was people who'd never seen Porro play. The same people now crucifying him for not being a good enough defender.
